There are some times when you just get lucky with something while you are also doing something good for the world. To me I would call that a win-win kind of situation, and those don't pass by so often.

An awesome amuse of perfectly prepared egg with puffed potato and salty fish eggs
A friend was going to run a marathon a while back and he was running this for a good cause. The idea of it all was that you could sponsor him and that the sponsored funds would go to a good cause. That already would be a super fine concept, as you are supporting a good cause and also supporting your friend as you hope he will make it to the end of the 42 kilometers. Come on guys, that is just a really far distance and deserves some respected if someone wants to do this.
Running a marathon is already an achievement and doing it while supporting others is even a better idea.

The true heroes
But apart from that my friend is a true hero for running a marathon for a good cause, he also got loads of businesses to give away gifts from their business to also support the cause. That means that there was a big raffle from everyone who donated some funds and that there were really cool prizes to win.
Actually a lot of people were involved in this and that is cool to see.

Super tasty soup that had the looks of a cappuccino but tasted like something from the forest
Some bakeries were donating bread for the cause, a playground was donating free tickets for kids to play. But there was also a Micheling star awarded restaurant called Versaen that gave away a full boarded lunch session. Big shout out to them!!!
And that is the prize that I actually won in there for donating for a good cause.....

In a town far far away
Yeah I won a Michelin lunch and I couldn't have been happier with it. I love tasting food and trying out new places but Michelin star places are a bit out the league you know, so seeing this fall into my lap for free was really a super cool surprise.
After a ride to a town not that far away which I had never been to before we arrived in a super nice setting with only a few other tables being occupied. It is always a bit weird in these kinds of places with service. Service is awesome, but it is also a bit stiff as I am a person who walks into one of these places in sneakers.

Ceviche of tuna with Kimchi and ponzu drips on a cookie of sesame
But here the service wasn't so stiff, although the rest of the people in this restaurant kind of were. I mean...I think I was literally at least 50 years younger than everyone else in this venue.
All of this doesn't matter when it comes to food as this is an universal love I guess.
Take this dish here below. I am not the biggest of mushroom eater but this take on the classic mushrooms on toast really was something else! And all of it has the colors of autumn in there of course.

Mushrooms on flavored and softened toast

What I always love
What I love most about these kinds of tasting sessions is how these chefs have the ability to take a single ingredient and let it come back in all kinds of flavors in the same dish.
In the main course here below the theme was cauliflower. The sauce was a base of this, there were also some baked cauliflowers but also a pickled one in there which was just the tone of balance

Black grouse with different tones of cauliflower
The same is with deserts in these kinds of places. I am not really a desert kind of lover, but in a place like these they are always so good and well balanced that it would be a pity not to order them.
Here this was a desert with all kinds of hints of mandarin where the base flavor comes back, but has all kinds of other tones additional in there. Super awesome!! And also...it looks fantastic!

Mandarin pudding with crumble and mint
What is also fantastic in these kinds of places is that after the deserts also other kinds of goodies come on in.
A white chocolate tablet with some caramel filling in there all of a sudden turned out which was a super pleasant surprise and more than tasty! And also...with their own name and logo on there.

Chocolate with caramel inside
And even also getting a coffee at the end, that means coffee comes on with again even more snacks. Friandises they are called and these ones are awesome and totally different sweet flavors.

Friandises additional to the coffee
Now remember...All of this was because I had donated for a good cause and raffled a prize from this. Again, my friend is the true hero for organizing this. But restaurant Versaen is also the real hero for donating this awesome dinner for free! Let's give them some love!
It was a fantastic food experience!
That was a good cause MARATHON, I like hos the cauliflower dish looks yummy.
Looks super nice right!
Now that's good Karma!! That looks like an awesome experience 🙂🙂🙂
Yeah but again all kudos to my friend running and the restaurant cooking. Those are the real heroes!
