Hello everyone

It's a new day and a new week to us all in this great community @needleworkmonday, I bring you all greetings on this beautiful day as we start the week on a bright side and I believe your weekend was great just as I had a lovely Sunday full of joy and celebration. Today, I will be sharing with you with great pleasure the making of this cute double color fabric hand bag made for myself to match my Sunday outfit.

Yesterday was the anniversary of the women wing in church and we were all told to wear a gold accessory on white outfit just to be in uniform for the celebration.

For me, I have a gold head gear, shoes and jewelries with a small gold purse but the purse was just too small to contain all I have to go to church with so I decided to make this fabric bag with the combination of those two colors to match my outfit and the outcome was really nice.

Let me take you through the cutting and sewing process

From the gold fabric, I measured and cut out 14 x 11" with interfacing ironed on it

I cut out 2 piece of 14 x 4" on the gold fabric and I ironed an interfacing on it.

On another white fabric to combine the bag, I cut out 2 pieces of 14 x 4" as well with interfacing ironed on it

I placed the white fabric on the main fabric and sew it together on the opposite side and it was top stitched on

Then the gold fabric was placed on the white fabric on the opposite side and sewn together as well

For the handle, I measured and cut out 16 x 2" which was folded and sewn together on both sides

I measured 3" from both sides of the bag and sew the handle on it.

The main fabric was folded together and I measured 2" on both edges and was cut out

This was placed on a lining and I cut out same shape

For the inner pocket, I measured and cut out 2 pieces of another fabric of 14 x 6.5" and was sewn together

1751204070750.jpg

It was turned inside out and top stitched on one side

1751204087580.jpg

I measured 3" on the lining and placed the pocket lining on it and it was sewn together on both sides and the bottom. I then sew on the middle to have two sides pocket

The main fabric and lining were taken to the sewing machine and were sew on both sides and the bottom to have a sitting bottom for my bag but on the lining, I left a little opening where it can be turned inside out

For the zipper, I cut out 2 pieces of 14 x 2" with interfacing ironed on it and lining.

1751204193039.jpg

I placed the lining and fabric together and I cut out 0.5" on both sides

1751204213679.jpg

I placed the main fabric on the zipper and the lining and it was sewn together on both sides

IMG_20250628_104814_710.jpg

I placed lining to lining and main fabric to main fabric and it was sewn on both sides

The excess zipper were trimmed off and I sew the edges together placing the lining and fabric together

1751204256123.jpg

It was turned inside out and was sewn round just as seen below

The zipper flap was sewn to the lining and I have this

Finally, the main bag was inserted in the lining and was sewn together at the top round

It was turned inside out through the opening on the lining and the top where the handle is was top stitched round with the opening on the lining sewn together.

I hope you like how beautiful this bag is with the combination of our anniversary colors.

See how nice it looks on me with my outfit. People in church really admired my bag and I have 3 orders already from our members to make a nice hand bag for them.
