Late June Garden Report (Mostly Flowers)

in HiveGarden18 days ago

It looks as if everything is finally planted in the garden! It took three tries before I succeeded in getting dill to grow. The first packet of seeds were old, the second package was brand new but just didn't sprout, but these from the third package are starting to peek through the soil. I wonder if they will mature quickly enough for making pickles?

The columbines are nearly done blooming now, but I took photos of the different colors on June 11th. I didn't realize I had eight colors!

My peony had six flowers this year. I just bought it last year, so it's still a small plant. I love the vibrant dark pink color.

I found out one of my favorite garden nurseries was having a closeout sale on annuals, and I couldn't resist taking a look. This is what I ended up buying.

Most of the flowers went into this pot:

The snapdragons were planted along the front of an existing flower bed. However, I may have to move them into pots; everything else in that area is a perennial, and I don't water it as often as the snapdragons would prefer.

The annuals in my deck railing planters are doing well. The petunia basket has already had a major trim, and is just starting to bloom again.

In my next garden post, I will plan to include pictures of the vegetable garden, where most of the little plants are growing nicely.

All photos taken on my Android phone.

Lovely garden! What's the name of that plant with yellow and orange flowers?. I think it will be a good addition to my garden,

I'm rooting for the sprouting dills. I didn't know that there is a flower that can be made into pickles. Thanks for sharing! 💚

The answers to your questions are in the previous comments.

Your garden is sounds so lovely. I usually focus on vegetables, but reading your post makes me interesting to try growing flowers too. I love to see all those Columbine Colors and the peony looks so beautiful. Looking forward to your vegetables garden update soon.

So glad you enjoyed my photos! Thanks for stopping by!

Lovely garden! What do you call that plant with fiery yellow and orange flowers? The flowers look vibrant and shining. I think it will be a good addition to my front yard next to my caladiums.

I'm rooting for the sprouting dills. I hope they make it. I didn't know that there is a flower that can be made into pickles, amazing! I'm curious. Thanks for sharing! 💚

I plan to pickle cucumbers, but those plants didn't make it into this post. Sorry! The dill is, indeed, coming up. Yay!
The bright orange/yellow flower is called bidens. I hadn't heard of it before, either. But I loved the colors, so I bought some.

Bidens are very beautiful! I love it! Pickled Cucumbers are common but for pickled dills, it's my first time to hear about it. I hope you can show us a finish pickled dill next time.

I think we are having a "language barrier" issue here. I use dill as an ingredient when making dill cucumber pickles. So yes, the dill gets pickled, but it's just an ingredient, not the main feature. Does that make sense?

I got it, thanks for clarifying. 😊

Wow! What an explosión of colors and shapes. Beautiful little flowers!
We don't have (or at least I have not seen) those colombines here.
