The floods in my province due to Typhoon Ramil

This is the situation in my province right now here in the Philippines because of Typhoon Ramil.
Everyone else didn't expect the flood to be this deep because they were only signal #1. Also, my sister updated me that it was raining there, and it was heavy. But they were used to it since it had been raining there for several days.

I see a lot of people posting on Facebook, asking for help and rescue. Many people say that the flooding yesterday is unprecedented because many areas were flooded that were not flooded before and it's deep.

Even the public hospital was flooded; many patients were affected and suffered because they could not leave the hospital.

Many roads were flooded and impassable to all vehicles, leaving many passengers stranded on the road or in terminals.

The powerful flood swept away a house, a trycycle,and a car. Imagine how powerful the flood was to wash these away, Huhu. And how you hard worked to buy things and build a house, and then suddenly swept away by the flood. Acck! It's so heart breaking.

Three people died, including this student, whose name is Mae Urdelas, and 17,000 families were affected, according to the news here.

Mae crossed the road despite the raging water because she wanted to get home. I do not blame her for forcing her to cross despite the fact that the MDRRMO and PAG-ASA had already issued weather warnings. Perhaps she was afraid she wouldn't be able to get home because she didn't know anyone in the area.

My cousin's posted that her mother needed rescue, which made me even more concerned because their house was in the middle of a rice field and the water was already inside of their house. I even asked our mayor and rescuers for assistance, but they said they couldn't go there right away due to the strong water current. They had a two-year-old child there, which made me even more anxious and afraid for them. Five adults and two seniors.

Her mother is not only my aunt, but also my godmother at the baptism, so I couldn't sleep while waiting for an update on them. The rescuer arrived at 1 a.m., loaded them into a boat, and transported them to a higher elevation to my cousin's sister's home. I was relieved to know that they were safe, as I had been worried about them due to the high water.

It almost all came back to my memory of everytime it flooded, since I was a kid until 17 yrs old I experienced flooding in our area almost every year. My aunt and our house is nearby in the middle of the rice fields; I remember when I was a kid everytime there was a storm and there was water in the rice field, my mom would put our clothes in plastic. The plastic she used before was a plastic bag from fertilizer; she would wash it kept it to use when putting our clothes in during floods or we use it as a raincoat during our elementary days we can't afford a raincoat lol. They would send us first together with my siblings to my aunt's house, which high and didn't flood, and then my mother next to us because she needs to fix all our things and then the only one left in the house is my father. But when he knew that the water was still going to rise, he would go where we were.
When we got back to our house, we had to wash all of our clothes because all of our possession had been washed away by the flood and were no longer usable.

Typhoon Ondoy killed my uncle because he couldn't handle the storm, and Typhoon Yolanda destroyed our house and washed it away by floods due to strong winds and rain.

My niece's update from yesterday at 5:30 p.m. since there was no electricity in the rice field, she was able to inform me that they were safe and not flooded, even though the water was still deep there. My siblings ability to relocate to a home on higher ground and escape the flood was one of the things for which I grateful.

I was deeply saddened by what happened to my countrymen today as a result of the floods, especially to those who lost their lives. I hope those affected by the floods recover and overcome the trauma caused by Typhoon Ramil. and in the other places here in the Philippines that have also been hit by typhoons and earthquakes.
