Davido is one of Africa's biggest and most amazing music artists, and he released a beautiful album late last year. He has been on a music tour for a while now, and finally, he came to my city! Being one of my favorite Nigerian artists, I was very excited when my cousin gifted me the ticket to his show as a pre-birthday gift in October. It was going to be my first time attending a live music concert, especially one of such big reputation and standard, and that added to my excitement.

The concert was slated for 4 p.m., but everyone knew it wasn't going to start that early. There was initially a whole chaotic process of converting tickets to tags, but thank God my elder cousin was able to help with that since he stays in the area. My cousin (the one who gifted me the ticket) and I later got to our older cousin's place before we all left around 8 p.m. Getting to the venue, I was shocked at the massive crowd that filled the street leading to the stadium where the concert was going to take place. Getting to the first entry point was very rough as many people were trying to enter at the same time. If not for security, it would have been much worse.

We later entered the stadium after about three checkpoints, and I marveled at the volume of people that were already inside. After hours of waiting and watching performances from other artists and up-and-coming artists, the artist we were actually waiting for started performing minutes before 2 a.m. It was such a beautiful moment, and once he entered, the frustration of having to wait for so long just disappeared and we just partied!

He sang many of his songs as the whole crowd sang along, and it was a beautiful moment. He performed longer than we all imagined because he finished minutes after 3 a.m. By that time, he had performed many songs and everyone was satisfied. I was very happy for the artist because he works so hard. I can't imagine how stressful music tours can be. His dear fans turned up for him, and I am certain that would have made him feel so alive.

Going home was chaotic, but it was still fair considering the fact that we waited a bit for the rush to reduce after the show ended and people were trying to leave the stadium. Getting a bike to go home was a hassle because they hiked the price so unreasonably. It's understandable that they were actually doing us a favor by being available outside their normal work hours, but it was too much. We got some that were quite fair and got home safely. I took a cold shower, did a few things online, and slept through the morning.

Overall, the experience was amazing, and I felt really good to be a part of it in person. I hope to do more of that this December, as there will be a lot of shows around this time of the year!
