These Times

their words,
such empty vessels,
deafening sounds,
as hearts fall broken,
drowning within their fears,
injustice,
spreading like wild fire,
clothed in darkness
desperation,
draws near.

voices,
stripped bare,
this refusal to fall in line,
to bow down.
so I slip away,
between the cracks,
to thrive on the edges,
as I bare witness
to the pleasures
of wicked men.

What has our world become, this theatre, that is playing out in front of us. How can it possibly be real, with such cruelty at play. With such division biting at the air. I feel like I am living in an alternate reality at times. It's just too much to get my head around, with no end in sight. Just more violence, oppression and greed. I'm not sure how much more I can take. Me the bystander, the observer. I swear my heart breaks every time I bare witness.

Yes I know, that the world as we know it is changing. That it has to change. That what we are seeing, are evil men, trying desperately to hold onto their power. That finally, perhaps the tables are starting to turn, but at what cost and with so much devastation? Oh my heart is heavy so often these days, just as it should be. I would be concerned if I didn't find myself in tears.

Oh these times we are living through.
