The Sandbag House Reno Record - the Void - almost reimagined - III

in #life18 hours ago

Among the things that happened last week, Thursday was the mattress swap. Even though my old mattress is, well, old, it's like the proverbial shoe: comfortable. During the week, as I continue sorting, I found an old comforter which will do for the time being and as the summer nights mean I must ditch the duvet, but need more than a sheet.

Old rug in a new place

The rug has emigrated from the office, where it had come full circle. Originally 30 years ago, I bought it for my office. Now, it's in its final (I think) spot. Ultimately, that alcove will be a reading nook. Oh, and Maryann Davies came to measure and collect the fabric for the blinds which should be ready later this week.

I had thought that the oak table and mirror from The Little Room would work in that corner next to the bathroom. They don't. So the little chair's mate will go in that space and they will swop places with the dressing table in the bedroom. Once the floor is done.

Imagining the reading nook around the window

Rug in place. Sort of. It may (probably) move to the right. One chair in place. The dressing table, eventually, will go behind it, next to the chimney and where there will be a plug. The other chair will go on the other side of the window. Oh, and I have a little kist that will fit perfectly into that niche.

Speaking of which, Bertus began to literally fill the cracks. For those concerned about the cracks cracking, they are filled with acrylic. Already, I feel and hear the difference. At the same time, he put the first coat of paint on top of the plaster primer on the wall. He wasn't able to get everything he wanted done, yesterday. His family had other plans. As happens.

A view over the bed to the bookcase deciding if it needs to live there, and over The Big Hole to what will ultimately be the "office"

If you look behind the bed, you'll catch a glimpse of a table. That will become my workstation and once The Big Hole is transformed into a stairwell with bannisters, it will shift down and out of the bedroom.

There are developments happening as I write. So expect an update in the next day or so.

Until next time
