More Than a Holiday: The Truth About Easter

The true meaning has been pushed out of the picture for so long that I find it quite dramatic how many people miss out on the good news that Jesus Christ died on the cross for all of us, and on the third day, He rose again. He defeated death and took the weight of all our sin onto Himself so that the broken bond between us and God could be made whole again.

That’s the true meaning of Easter. It’s the best and most powerful news this world has ever been given. But we’ve turned it into a celebration of spring or just another long weekend. And in all honesty, I wanted to make a reminder.

I don’t write this to argue or shame anyone. It’s the opposite—I want to share the joy that I have received in my life. This message about God’s grace and His gift to us is not replaceable or even comparable to anything this world can offer, and I think many people have a hard time actually grasping that.

This isn’t about religion for the sake of rules. It’s about a real relationship with the God who made you and loves you. He loved humanity so much that He left heaven, came down to earth as a human to relate to us—but most importantly, to make the biggest sacrifice by dying for our sin. But there is so much joy in this story, because He has risen. This is our celebration. He has defeated death, and now the one who truly believes in Him is saved and lives on forever.

Jesus didn’t come to condemn us. He came to save us. That includes me, you—all of us.
If you’re even a little curious, I encourage you to look into it for yourself. Easter is a reminder that death isn’t the end, and no one is too far gone. That kind of love is for everyone.

Die wahre Bedeutung wurde über so lange Zeit verdrängt, dass ich es ehrlich gesagt ziemlich traurig finde, wie viele Menschen die gute Nachricht verpassen: Jesus Christus ist für uns alle am Kreuz gestorben, und am dritten Tag ist Er auferstanden. Er hat den Tod besiegt und die Last all unserer Schuld auf sich genommen, damit die zerbrochene Verbindung zwischen uns und Gott wiederhergestellt werden kann.

Das ist der wahre Sinn von Ostern. Es ist die beste und kraftvollste Botschaft, die diese Welt je bekommen hat. Aber wir haben daraus ein Frühlingsfest oder einfach nur ein langes Wochenende gemacht. Und ganz ehrlich – ich wollte einfach daran erinnern.

Ich schreibe das nicht, um zu diskutieren oder jemanden zu verurteilen. Ganz im Gegenteil: Ich möchte die Freude teilen, die ich selbst erfahren habe. Diese Botschaft von Gottes Gnade und Seinem Geschenk an uns ist durch nichts in dieser Welt ersetzbar oder vergleichbar, und ich glaube, dass viele Menschen Schwierigkeiten haben, das wirklich zu begreifen.

Es geht hier nicht um Religion im Sinne von Regeln. Es geht um eine echte Beziehung zu dem Gott, der dich gemacht hat und dich liebt. Er hat die Menschheit so sehr geliebt, dass Er den Himmel verlassen und als Mensch auf die Erde gekommen ist – nicht nur, um uns zu verstehen, sondern vor allem, um das größte Opfer zu bringen, indem Er für unsere Schuld gestorben ist. Aber die Freude in dieser Geschichte ist, dass Er lebt. Das ist unser Fest. Er hat den Tod besiegt, und wer an Ihn glaubt, ist gerettet und wird ewig leben.

Jesus kam nicht, um uns zu verurteilen. Er kam, um uns zu retten. Mich, dich – uns alle.
Wenn du auch nur ein bisschen neugierig bist, schau es dir selbst an. Ostern erinnert uns daran, dass der Tod nicht das Ende ist – und dass niemand zu weit weg ist. Diese Liebe gilt jedem.
