While that SOUNDS like a lot of money, to Google, it's just the cost of doing business. They still made $23billion. Without the monopoly, they might not have even made $5billion.

Microsoft did something similar in the 90's, opting to pay $1million/day rather than give up their monopoly on the desktop browser market. At the time, it sounded like an insanely high fee, but Microsoft estimated that by keeping Netscape out of the market, they were actually making almost $10million/day, so that fine was just a 10% 'tax'.
