Knight Estate: Proving a Mobile Game Can Be Truly Great

Let’s be honest, blogs about mobile games are rare.

And as a developer, I never imagined I’d be writing one. But here we are.

This isn’t just about the game I’m building, though. It’s about you. It’s about us. Because like many of you reading this, I didn’t start as some coding prodigy or a game-dev veteran. In fact, I failed most of my programming courses. Less than a year ago, I could barely write a line of functional code. But I made a choice: I decided to teach myself, and that decision changed everything.

My name is Dom, and for the past decade, I’ve been chasing a dream, to create games.

I’ve always been able to draw, design, and bring ideas to life visually. But coding? That felt like an insurmountable wall. I convinced myself I couldn’t do it, so I held back for years. The "Before" screenshot you see below? That’s not even a game, just some images I cobbled together in Photoshop. If I could’ve made full games in Photoshop alone, believe me, I’d have done it ten years ago.

So why am I telling you this? And why should you care about Knight Estate, a mobile game in a market drowning in cash grabs?

Because this isn’t just another soulless title chasing microtransactions. This is a passion project, born from late-night gaming sessions with Crusader Kings 3 and the immersive depth of Manor Lords. It’s a game where you step into the boots of a medieval knight, ruling your realm, managing wealth, and living on the edge where every battle could be your last.

Let’s address the elephant in the room: mobile gaming has a terrible reputation.

And honestly? It’s not entirely unfair. Too many studios, big and small, treat mobile as a dumping ground for low-effort reskins. Take Age of Empires Mobile, instead of crafting a true adaptation of their legendary RTS, they slapped a coat of paint on an existing Chinese game. It’s lazy. It’s disappointing. And it’s exactly why so many gamers dismiss mobile outright.

But here’s the truth: mobile gaming doesn’t have to be this way.

Look at eFootball (formerly PES). It’s one of the highest-grossing mobile games, not just because it’s designed to hook players, but because it delivers real quality. The difference between its mobile and PC versions? Mostly just graphics. That should be the standard we aim for.

Right now, Knight Estate is far from finished.

I’ve got about a year, maybe less, to shape it into the game I envision. And I’m not here to ask for your money. I’m asking for your trust. If you’re tired of shallow mobile games, if you believe this platform can be more than just a cash grab, then join me. Hop into the Discord, connect with the amazing community already rallying behind this project, and let’s build something special together.

This isn’t just my game, it’s ours. And with your support, Knight Estate can become the ultimate medieval strategy experience on mobile. Let’s prove that mobile games can be deeper. Let’s create something worth playing.

See you lads and lassies on Discord.

Dom
