I saw in the news that Nintendo had set up a limited-time game experience event in a busy downtown area. When people think of Nintendo, the first image that comes to mind is probably that red-and-white home console ( or call the Family Computer ), or the red-hatted plumber in overalls, Mario. For anyone who loves video games, Nintendo consoles have likely been part of their lives for a long time, maybe even across different stages of life—from after-school fun as a student, to a way to relax after work, and later on, something to enjoy together with their own kids.
So that day, when I was walking through the pedestrian district downtown, I suddenly spotted those familiar characters like Mario and Pikachu, along with several small Nintendo experience booths set up along the street. I instantly felt excited. Inside the experience area, different types of games were neatly organized into separate booths. Each little demo house featured just one game—some were action-adventure, some were party competition games, and others were more casual titles perfect for families.
The staff on site patiently explained how to play, so even people who don’t usually play games could quickly get the hang of it. The booths had transparent windows, so the people waiting outside could quietly watch others playing inside. You could see their reactions, follow their progress, and even make little comments about their gameplay while standing in line.
I really wanted to go in and try one of the newest games for free. But the popular titles had super long lines, and after looking at the crowd for a while, I decided not to wait. In the end, I didn’t actually go inside.
Still, Nintendo holds a special place in many people’s hearts, not just because of how many best-selling consoles or games it has released, but because it carries the memories of different eras. It brings people of different generations into the same space and gives them something they can all connect over.
Maybe next time, when I can get a friend to come with me, I’ll come back here and battle it out for real—just to relive some of those good old days.
