Hey everyone, it’s louis here. Just wanted to share something quick and useful — I made my own Hive debit card, and it actually works like a charm.
So here’s what I did. I bought a stack of blank NFC cards version 215 or 216 on Amazon, cost me around 20 to 30 cents each. Cheap and easy. You’ll want a spare Hive account for security — I used my test account loupics. Maybe create your own and call it "yourname.card" or whatever fits for you.
Now for the setup: I grabbed my private active key from Hive Keychain (Android only for now), copied it, and went to https://hivedebit.com. I clicked on “create a card,” filled in my account name and a simple PIN like 1212. Set a daily spending limit — I chose $10 just to try it out — and pasted in my private key copied from Hive Keychain. (Attention! The Key is shown as Real Text and should be invisible at this point.)
Once that’s done, I held the NFC card at the back of my phone and boom — it wrote the data instantly. Super smooth.
To test it further, I created a $2 invoice for my main account louis88, tapped to pay with the card, entered the PIN, and the payment went through immediately. No fuss. Hive magic.
That’s it. Hive debit cards — real, working, and surprisingly easy to set up.

Buy the nfc cards or just sticker rolls on aliexpress much cheaper same things
You can get metal ones too ya know but i dunno if metal and nfc will make it work less well hah yeah. I also lqser engrave them as theyre black painted cards
I made some of these for hivefest tijuana but yeah this isntba real debit card
You need to order blank debit cards with magstrips and evm chips! They are like also a few dollars on aliexpress and a reader writer is like 25 bucks
But we dont have an official crerit or debit card system and its silly to need that . No need to go back in time and make "bank debit cards" when we hwve smartphones lol
We wont ever havr like an actual bank and have millions to pay for a legit debit card system and all that lol or will we? I always assumed it woule be cost p4ohibitive to even try to fo this

Putting a private key on a nfc card is so stupid lol even for a hot wallet with jusy a cew bucks on it. Anyone can steal it
You need to use loke a $7 esp32 and have it sign transactions

Bro i was making nfc hive private key cards years ago for hivefest tijuana and literally no one gave me any credit or made a big feal out of it. This is not a debit card. Its just an nfc chip on a plastiv or metal card.
Why are you all acting like its safe to put your private key on a card like this? I uope its a hot wallet. I mean just a few hive its cool as a gift card but its Not a debit card
Keychain app does not use agstips p mv chips etc not a debit card just an nfc crypto tap payment card and pointless. If you actually convince someone to use hive you wont need this...youd just use your phone. Bit in the real worlr in america or first world we cant trust people to use a personal phone to do payments at a store people will steal. None of this is secure sorry

Main account or spare account, it does not change the fact that you are putting your keys at risk when entering them on a web page.
Therefore i would suggest adding Keychain at that point would make max sense.

Nah it doesnt. I did this years ago with hive private keys on a nfc chip for gift cards at hive fesy. Its not secure and is only useful for gift cards for new users who need to take the hive off immediatly becaude anyone can walk by and steal the private key with a strong enough nfc reader

On the paper it's great, simple and easy, but on practice there is a big issue, in Europe for example you won't be able to use it anywhere unless it is connected to a recognized payment network, such as:
Visa
Mastercard
Maestro
Bancomat
And I guess this one isn't... So it becomes useless here
