The luckiest girl in the world!

in HiveFest6 days ago

So I just got back from a great night out in Kuala Lumpur with some new Hive friends ready for #HF10, and honestly… right now I feel like the luckiest girl in the world. ✨

This year has been one of those rare and magical times where long-held dreams and little wishes have just… lined up. Serendipity, I call it.

Earlier this year, I published a couple of children’s books — magical stories grounded in real facts and inspired by my own photos of the Daintree Rainforest.

Then I bought a van and hit the road with an old friend, traveling from Melbourne up the East Coast of Australia. https://peakd.com/hive-163772/@chocolatescorpi/literally-living-the-dream-van-life-from-beachside-bliss-to-bush-tracks-and-everything-in-between-day-1

Along the way, we had the chance to house-sit the most beautiful home near Newcastle in NSW for a few months —

And meet some truly wonderful people who volunteered at the local New Hope Church op shop. (And yes… everyone who knows me knows how much I love op shops!)

Eventually, I made it all the way up to Far North Queensland to catch up with more old friends and house-sit in another absolutely gorgeous spot — this time in the Atherton Tablelands, about two hours southwest of Cairns to look after this gorgeous girl Gyspy... https://peakd.com/hive-155530/@chocolatescorpi/my-first-walk-through-the-new-house-sit-in-the-atherton-tablelands-of-far-north-qld

On the way, I even stopped in to see my long-lost cousin @neddykelly, who I hadn’t seen in nearly 30 years. It was so special to see him and his parents again after so long.

And then something I’ve wanted to do ever since I first had the honour and privilege of meeting founders John and Gill Dalley back in 2012 finally happened — I volunteered at Soi Dog Foundation in Phuket, walking dogs all day. I cannot even begin to tell you just how incredible, amazing, and brilliant that experience was.

To collect the dogs from their runs — which usually housed anywhere between 10 and 20 dogs — and take them for walks around a beautifully landscaped area, then into an off-lead space… to see the pure joy on their faces as I unclipped their leads and they were free to run… many doing zoomies with sheer delight while others raced around sniffing everything — it was indescribable. My heart just swelled with happiness. And although it’s only been a few days since I walked my last dog, I miss it so much already.

But let’s not forget about the cats. Spending time in the serenity of the cat enclosures during lunch, with them coming over for love, cuddles, smoogies and smooches, was honestly the height of happiness — a truly magical experience I can’t wait to have again.

And now here I am at my first ever HiveFest, meeting some of my favourite people from around the world. Honestly, my heart’s full to the brim and my mind is a bit blown — especially after my first full day and night in Kuala Lumpur.

WOW. What a city!

(still downloading the photos and video now...)

I can’t even express how grateful I am to have had all of these incredible opportunities in a single year. It’s been a whirlwind — the best kind.

And yes, I know I haven’t posted in a while… my last one was 1 July, which just so happened to be my fifth Hive birthday! I’ve been a little quiet here, but in real life, I’ve been flat out building — five SaaS apps, multiple websites, Etsy shops, and a whole lot more.

And through it all, I’ve been capturing, recording, and documenting pretty much every moment since leaving Melbourne in March- Especially, my time at Soi Dog.

And yes, I’ll definitely be capturing the laughs, hugs, and memories at HiveFest too!

Thank you so much for reading my post, I really hope that you enjoyed it and look forward to your comments and thoughts.

ChocolateScorpi is so incredibly grateful to the traditional custodians of this beautiful land that I call home and I thank you for caring for it for so long.

I pay my respects to elders, past, present and emerging and offer our hand to all first nations hands in order to help heal all of our relationships to the earth on this truly magical and extraordinary island nation that we now all call home.
