Decorating ...Check

"Maybe Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more," - The Grinch

I will admit, when it comes to the days approaching Christmas, I can be a Grinch. In fact, my wife even bought me some pajamas with the Grinch on them a few years back and I wear them every Christmas Day.

I just can't stand the commercialization of the holiday. But I mean let's be honest, Christians already hijacked a pagan celebration and made it their own. So why wouldn't money grubbing scrooges want to make a buck off it?

Anyway, when Thanksgiving is over, I usually cringe because that means it is Christmas decoration time at our house. The wife breaks out the totes full of red, white, greem and all kinds of x-masy crap.

When we were younger, it would be an all day affair, in which I was also an unwilling participant. My duties used to inlcude putting up outdoor lights, pulling down totes from the garage loft, and other husbandly duties.

As time has passed, and my health declined, we down sized our displays to mostly indoor stuff. Even the indoor was minimized a great deal when we moved into a msaller home.

Hell, we used to have two large Christmass trees in our last house. Now we have one small one that sits atop our stepped tansu, or kaiden tansu.

There are lots of little heirlooms we have held onto, Some from parents, some from grandparents. Mostly hers. After this year we will probably minimize even more.

We will keep the heirlooms of course. Our daughter-in-law loves Christmas and she would love to inherit them. So most likely she will get those when we are dust in the wind.

Speaking of which, the oldest and his wife will be here for Christmas this year which makes me very happy. It makes us both very happy.

Well, its getting late, football game is on, and Grinch needs his beauty sleep so he is in a better mood for the season.
