BnB Dairies - Laundering Money

in Silver Bloggers6 days ago (edited)

Money laundering, me, huh? We hear about it in the news: illegal dealings involving people in high places.

Not guilty! I'm just a little old lady trying to suck out the last bit of joy from the best job I've ever had. I do not want it to stop, but it has to! Lily's Cottage will be ten in October, and I'm guessing I'll still be here. The sale of my property is taking a long time - too many properties on the market in my city, and too few buyers. But, as I keep on saying, I believe it's all for the good, as I cannot make up my mind where to go!

Yes, our government has made a mess of so many things, but guess what, many young South Africans are slowly making their way back home. I know of a couple more who would not hesitate to come back if they could find good employment in their field. I even hear it from expat guests who made the move years ago, and now long for home. Some do make it back, but it's not so easy.

Talking of fields, all those white crosses the American president showed to the world aren't graves. Yes, there are farm murders, but there's a debate about the stats saying they make up less than 1% of all murders in South Africa. I'm not going into that discussion, though, just saying!
The people of my country are resilient. Those who love the land of our birth take the initiative to better their lives and that of the people around them.

I've totally veered off the subject of laundering money, although many top officials are guilty of that crime.
Dirty money has ended up on my washing line on more than one occasion. Don't get me wrong, this is dirty in the real sense.

We offer a laundry service to our guests and sometimes discover forgotten notes in their pockets after the wash, not before! Thankfully, those notes stay intact in a cold wash, which is what I use for mixed colours. We've now stopped them from dumping their clothes into the washing machine and rather sort them and load them ourselves, covered in protective gear!

The other day, I was given a couple of crumpled, damp notes as payment for doing a guest's laundry. I do not like touching money at any given time, and the thought of where damp notes possibly came from made me cringe.
Dirty money, yes, often in more ways than one! I wasn't going to put those in my wallet. So, into a tub of cold soapy water they went, swivelled around with a stick, rinsed them, just like those money launderers do, and hung them out to dry.

These notes are now clean after baking in the hot sun, ready to be placed into my wallet, which is getting rather thin. Bookings are still very slow compared to this time last year, but it's picking up, and I hope it stays that way!

Hive Power Up Day

I managed to power up 300 Hive, taking me to a new milestone of just over 28,000 HP. Slow growth, but nevertheless on the upward trend.

If you want to strengthen your account, power up any spare Hive you have. Power up 10 Hive or more, and you'll get a Power Bee from the awesome @hivebuzz.

Enjoy what's left of your Sunday, friends!

We are told that money was dirty and source of evil but the truth is we cannot live without money. Our foods, bills, groceries and other needs would always need to pay it using cash or card. Too risky to hang money, either it would be blows by a strong wind or pick by the others.

As the saying goes, money is a necessary evil. My post about washing money was a tongue-in-cheek statement😅

When I saw the post title I thought you were confessing to something! Lol. I immediately thought about the Netflix series, Ozark.

Haha Eric, not guilty 😅
Ozark was brilliant, but I found the ending disappointing!

Thank you so much @hivebuzz

Congratulations on participating in the PUD @lizelle. 💪🐝

Actually now it is ok as notes here are now plastic, but when they were paper I know a few notes that have been destroyed lol
Money laundering well I am sure there have been a few BnB's around the world that have been used to launder money for sure.
Mind you it is good idea washing notes as they are often full of cocaine dust and things!
May you have a jumping jolly June Lizzie!

I like the sounds of a jumping jolly June, Ed🙃
I never thought of cocaine dust, but we know it can be soiled with anything, yuck!
Yes I'm sure, I actually thought I need to be careful with my post title🤭
A jumping jolly June for you as well, Ed!

Careful with your post title lol Lizzie let your hair down and title a post as you wish 😎

Hello, @lizelle actually money is a source of infection, when it gets into our hands we can't even imagine how many people and places it has passed through. The practice is to wash our hands but still.
Calm friend not to despair you will see that little by little will be incrementand your customers and fatten your wallet. I see you more relaxed and improving that makes me happy. 🥰❤️❤️❤️

Yes it is dirty that's why I prefer using my card.
Dear @mamani, you are so perceptive, I believe things will slowly fall into place❤️

How funny Lizzie! Well done that you washed them LOL
I understand you, I don't like to handle bills, imagine wet ones without knowing where the moisture comes from, yuck!

I hope the bookings improve. There is a worldwide crisis and you know in our countries the governments make their best to turn things worse but we have to go on.
Happy week! 🤗

Haha, I almost recoiled when the guest handed those moist bills😕
It's just awful that our governments cannot see that they're destroying our countries, purely for power and greed!

You made me laugh with the “money laundering” part, I thought it was something serious at first 😂. It’s funny how you ended up washing real money from guests' pockets. Also, congratulations on your Hive power-up.

Some great humor here Lady Lizzie, and we know someone who is so much like you. She even washes her husband's cigarette packs, and all canned goods. I have never seen money on a washing line, and I wonder what your neighbors would think if they were to see it. !LOL

I never thought of money laundering like literally washing money — now I’ll be checking my pockets twice before doing laundry

Haha, yes at least it doesn't disintegrate like forgotten tissues do, and mess up all the laundry.

My mother has done that kind of money laundering on several occasions jjjj. And then the sun takes care of the drying.

Haha, I think many of us have done that @maiasun84

Hehehe. Washing dirty money is a great idea. I often have after going to the market😁.

Oh my word, I've never intentionally done that, good idea!
Now we have to add another duty- money laundering on Mondays😅
