Special recipe pizza for Bitcoin Pizza Day and bits from the bottom of the fridge.
Bitcoin Pizza Day
I always enjoy 22 May - already a tradition as Bitcoin Pizza Day. You can read the story in @akipponn's post. Apparently, it's fifteen years now since that momentous occasion (10,000 BTC for two pizzas).
I like creating these new festivals, especially when there's not yet any comercialisation of them. I should get more with the 20 March - Hive's anniversary.
I wonder if they will take over or be assimilated into the earth's patterns of easter and whitsun and solstices and equinoxes.
BTC kindly hit an ATH on the same day bringing a bit of magic.
Savings Progress
EDSI (@eddie-earner)
I hit one of this year's savings targets recently ... well, it was more a target I set at the end of December 2023. I decided I wanted to own 12,500 EDSI (2.5% of the fund) by the time all the miners (EDSM and EDSMM) had paid out.
This is in 2041 or something like that, mind, but I'm not averse to a bit of long-term planning. Anyway, I worked out the gap between what I would hold from the miners and 12,500 EDSI and set up a plan to bridge the gap.
There are a couple of ways you can get EDSI:
- directly from the market and there are some big sells now and then as well as lots of little drips. I was lucky as a big holder was selling at the pegged price of 1 HIVE each. Keep your eyes open for these bargains!
- or by holding EDSD (1 EDSD = 1HBD): 50% of the interest from HBD in savings is used to distribute EDSI.
- or by delegating to @eds-vote: 50% of the curation rewards are distributed as EDSI.
In both EDSD and @eds-vote, other half of the interest/curation rewards is powered up to the EDSI fund, helping to ensure its sustainability. To me, it feels like saving now and saving later, too.
Anyway, I had some EDSD and a delegation to @eds-vote until I had reached the number of EDSI to bridge the gap - which happened a week or two ago when I hit 5,600 EDSI. I was very happy with that!
My holdings will continue to grow passively from the miners and each week they provide a liquid HIVE income.
SPI
My other savings target this year is growing my SPI holdings to 15% of the fund or 13,950 SPI. I have bought a few recently and increased my holdings to 11,361 SPI, but still a long way to go.
I've set a loose target for this year - 12,370 by December, another 1,000 to go! I'm not too worried, there may be opportunities to pick some up later in the year at 5-6 HIVE, we'll see what happens.
This is more of a long-term position I'm working towards and I'm happy to see what opportunities come up over the next year and then put a long-term plan in place come mid-2026, something like that.
Other Tokens
There was this interesting post from @ecoinstant about some other good second layer tokens which look worth investigating.
XV
So XV paid out this week after a two year stint playing with re-balancing a basket of 15 crypto tokens drawn from across the spectrum. Some things I liked:
- definite pay out date set two years in advance.
- regular updates and re-balancing - impact: 236% HIVE increase.
- low cost of entry: each XV cost 1 HIVE.
The big lesson from this time around was the five big players were also the five big winners when it came to it. I hope we'll do it again next cycle, especially with 1 HIVE entry cost, that leaves it open for everyone to join in and benefit.
Well, even though I had started powering down my kitty, with the XV payout I couldn't resist powering everything up and seeing just where I came in the top HP holders. Looks like rank 122 is going to be my top placing this cycle, just above the mighty meesterboom (for two minutes anyway): who would have thought!

Like lots of people, I joined when ST**M was a daft price - $2.40 or something - not at its peak, but high enough to leave me wondering if I'd have to get a side hustle to get anywhere near Dolphin.
Now here we are. I shall enjoy for a few hours longer before I begin to power down again and start slipping down the ranks ... until next time.

Well anytime you are around Boom, you are in good company LOL 🤣
That's true! 😍
The pizza is great, bro. Enjoy!
I'm a woman, sweetie, but thank you 🙂
I didn't notice the name, I'm very sorry,
👍
That’s right! We must celebrate it. It’s already 5 years ago when the hard fork happened … 😮 I add it to my calendar 😊
What shall we do? Hive … something red … something honey related?? 😁
@macchiata is inspiring me with sweet treats like these financiers and recently a kind of baked cup covered in chocolate for affogato. I quite like the last one because makers could experiment with the fillings and combinations.
But something sweet and cookie-like, maybe? 😁
