Hello everyone, how are you? I hope you are doing well. Childhood dream or childhood dream? I don't think I have much memory about it. About what my dream was, what my desire was to make it happen. All I remember was when in elementary school my teacher asked me, what do you want to be?

I said I didn't know, then I asked my mother. My mother said, just be a teacher, which is easy. Because one of my siblings became a teacher, a teacher, who of course is a civil servant. From then on, I started dreaming of becoming a teacher. And I also had a teacher role model when I was in elementary school. Her name was Mrs. Ratna.

She was very friendly, kind, and she was an English teacher. To be precise, at that time, I started to cultivate to become a teacher. And then, my dream continued to grow. When I stepped into high school, I started to change my dream to become a novelist. But my mother didn't know. My mother only knew that I wanted to be a teacher.

Until finally, I went to college, and what happened? I chose to major in physics teacher. Physics teacher. I chose physics teacher. At that time, my parents expected me to become a teacher. Where teachers are highly respected people in the place where I live. People who are role models for society, and people who have high degrees.

And that is also the reason I entered physics education. But when I studied my lectures on methods, or with issues that are developing in the world of education, it felt like being a teacher was not my calling. It turns out that becoming a teacher is not easy.

One, at the beginning of teaching, or maybe up to 10 years, he had to receive a very minimal salary. Or even, he had to teach at 2 or even three schools to meet his monthly needs. And, to be appointed as a civil servant, it felt like I had to wait 10 to 15 years. Because civil servants, from among teachers, are already very many.

So, when I went to college, civil servants with teacher status were no longer appointed every year. That is also what made me hesitate to become a teacher. On the other hand, a teacher is just an implementation of a national policy. Meanwhile, a teacher is someone who understands the conditions in the field for students.

For me, it feels unfair. Teachers who understand students, teachers who understand the conditions in the field, but teachers are not involved in making the curriculum. The people who are involved in the curriculum are politicians and people who work as narrow.

There I felt a loss, I regretted entering this world, and in the end, I chose to become a journalist. It feels very detrimental to be a teacher. Have to accept minimal wages. Not to mention, people from science majors, sometimes take jobs as teachers.

Job opportunities from my major turned out to be increasingly minimal. Since then, I began to back away from my dream of becoming a teacher. That's all I can tell you. What do you think? Do you have the same situation?

From the on-set, I didn't like being a teacher; I think that is the only profession that didn't even cross my mind growing up; I didn't feel the urge to be a teacher or anything related to it.

that's what i think after growing up

I have never thought of becoming a teacher because teachers are not well paid in my country and it's also stressful mostly when you teach in a private school, they will use you.

I feel that way, it feels like being slapped by reality

I have always loved children, as a teenager I was the assistant children teacher in church.

It quite unfortunate that the society don't value teaching, but teaching is a very good career, you will enjoy it if you are in an environment where you are appreciated and well rewarded

maybe, but I think I have to move countries first

I hardly hear people say they want to become a teacher, journalism is a good one, great job

That's what you imagine when reading a novel about working as a journalist, it looks cool

I guess is same everywhere, teachers are never given as much as they deserve, most especially the ones that are not opportuned to be civil servant. I have always loved teaching myself, but I feel the work of a teacher is too stressful. But as a child, teaching was never close to what I wanted to become.

exactly. thanks for stopping by

You are welcome 🤗

Teaching can definitely be stressful especially with all the workload and sometimes lack of support . But it's also one of the most meaningful jobs out there . Teachers shape Life , open minds and build the future . No water how hard it gets . I think the stress just shows how much responsibility and passion . it can still be a fulfilling path
