One hell of a day yesterday. Barely on the farm for most of it thanks to the slew of various things going on. The boys to school it was only half an hour before we headed up to the high school for the 5th grade track and field day.
All 4 classes went out for their warm up first before going back to their respective seating areas on the bleachers.
J ran the 200 meter race and he got 3rd in his first heat.
Then he was in the final and ran hard and came in 4th. Some really fast kids. The girl who smoked the 800 meter by a LONG ways had really good form and absolute runner's legs.
Then he went to the high jump and he made it pretty far through to about the last 6 to 8 kids before he fouled out.
Back on the farm we had over an hour until the concert so I headed out to get some mowing done. My knee was not agreeing with the effort but I managed to get it done.
PDC is on this weekend and I was able to watch the start of RVB's match which he lost. His form is just not on much anymore.
Across the highway to the school we went and got our seats by the back on the edge so we could see R as he walked in.
Thankfully it was just 2nd grade so R was FINALLY on the top row so we could se him.
Funny watching the concerts. Some kids flat out refuse to sing, hell even move their mouths to make it look like it, just big scowls. Then others like R are into it and singing along.
So back to the farm for a bit before heading down to the co-op pickup. Ty was to be there so I brought my paraglider and harness to show him as he is super intrigued. We talked for a good bit then made it home a little before the boys did.
Once they were home @stryeyz had a surprise for me for an early Father's day. WE headed north to Loon Lake and the distillery I have been wanting to go to since it opened over a decade ago. Every time I drive past it I stare at it, well no more!
HOLY BALLS is it a killer setup! That column is gorgeous on the 90 gallon. He said he'd like to add even more sections on to get the output even cleaner and higher octane.
We got the tour of the tiny place then sat in the front for a tasting session.
HOLY SHIT IS IT AMAZING!!!!!! The bourbons are all super smooth with the Cinnamon being ultra smooth with zero hot or sharp. The lightnings are vodka mixes that are all very good. The maple bourbon is to die for. They even make their own maple syrup. The owners are super nice and obviously love what they do. Small batch liquor is really the best out there. So we got a selection and headed out.
Across the highway the ice cream shop had just one vehicle in front so we stopped in for quarts to take home with us.
Finally back home for good for the day, after 4 trips off the farm... I pulled out the haul.
The single malt #bourbon is nice and smooth with just a slight alcohol burn on the backside.
The maple pecan is obnoxiously delicious and super smooth... DANGEROUS would be a good term for it. The huckleberry lightning is perfect for cold mixers.
The straight bourbon is rather smooth but has a bit more of a rye bite in the back end. And then there's the syrup which is insanely good and rich!
@stryeyz had gone to rake the yard after I cut the grass and she found a number of the tinsel lengths had fallen from the tree. It then became her mission to tie them on the tree.
I was weeding some in the garlic when I realized the rhubarb was WAY too big. So I went all hack and slash on it and got a huge pile stacked up.
It must have loved the extra cover of the pine needles because these are the biggest stalks I have gotten from the plants in memory. 20 pounds on the scale. Oh yeah, I need to toss the leaves this morning, I forgot to do that.
Holy shit what a psycho event. I had opened the screen door then closed it as I looked in the sink for thawing meat for dinner when a glass in the cabinet above tipped which hit a goblet glass knocking the door open, both fell out but the goblet fell directly onto the center divider of the sink and EXPLODED. Glass went all over the kitchen. Truly everywhere. We found shards 15 feet away across the room. It was astonishing how it blew up. The other glass is a jar style and was perfectly fine.
After the chaos while J made a rhubarb crisp I got the burgers formed and grilled.
Dinner on the deck.
I managed only half an hour before my knee said, "AHHHH NOPE NOPE NOPE" and I was out.
I slept for absolute dog shit last night and ended up on the couch which didn't help much. At least my knee is not hurting nearly as badly. Winds will be on today so I will go kite my hill after cutting the grass all around launch, PDC is on, more mowing needs done below the house, weeding in the garlic, and will have to close the house up early as it's to be near 90F today.
