The sun made a welcome return this morning as I had a nice walk along the dam. This is one of my favourite trees. The scene reminds me of paintings of the English landscape painter John Constable who painted in a Romantic style.
A Canada goose seemed intent on following me. It got quite close so I had to pick up the pace. I think it had stalking tendencies ...
It is strange how different years bring different things. Up until a week ago I have never seen Mandarin ducklings but I've now seen two broods in two different places. This female had three ducklings.
Four Canada geese and a gosling were strutting down the footpath as if they were in a Western movie. I love the fact that it's not just the parents who look after the goslings, but other geese do too. They chased one goose off, so they obviously choose their childminders.
I do think goslings definitely look like mini tyrannosaurus rexes.
It was good to see the swans back on the dam. I've not seen them for a while. There was quite few feathers on the water as the birds appear to be moulting.
I followed the footpath around where the magpie was flitting about.
On the way back, I sat for a few minutes on the bench with the sun streaming through the trees.
Very beautiful photography, seeing how nature is so enchanting
Thank you. There's nothing better. 🙂
You're welcome!
Loved looking through your photos. Those Mandarin males are quite an eye full. And I agree about the gosling, at least in this photo.
Thank you. They need something to attract the females. 😁
Very lovely walk in a fantastic environment! Love Constable’s paintings. Used to see them a lot in museums and art galleries.
Those duck families are so cute. I would cuddle the small ones!
The swans on water look very romantic! They are very lucky to be living in that area.
Hope the weather stays nice and dry next week!
I could have bought a duck home but that would be wrong. 😁
