EU vs X und Elon Musk. Das ist brutal. Offiziell, hat die EU-Kommission eine 120 Millionen Euro-Strafe gegen X (und Elon Musk persönlich) verhängt, nicht wegen zu wenig Zensur, sondern offiziell wegen diesen drei Punkten.
Den blauen Verifizierungs-Häkchen, die man sich jetzt für eine kleine Premium-Gebühr kaufen kann. Die EU meint, dass diese Praktik irreführend sei.
Der zweite Grund ist Mangel an Transparenz bei Online-Werbung, um politische Werbung auf X zu kontrollieren und auszuwerten.
Und der dritte Punkt ist der Mangel an öffentlichen Zugang zu den Daten von X. Der API-Zugang wurde eingeschränkt. Die EU Kommission fordert aber diesen öffentlichen Zugang, um damit gegen Disinformation vorgehen zu können.
Das sind die offiziellen Gründe, warum die EU Kommission eine Strafe gegen X verhängt hat.
Hinter den Kulissen geht es meiner Meinung nach um mehr als diese fadenscheinigen Dinge wie die blauen Check-Marks.
Es geht letztendlich um die Informationshoheit, das Ausliefern von Usern an die europäischen Behörden und um die Auslegung von Free Speech.
Was sagt ihr dazu? Macht sich die EU damit einen Gefallen, gegen X wegen diesen drei Punkten vorzugehen? Wer wird diesen Machtkampf gewinnen?

EU vs. X and Elon Musk. This is brutal. Officially, the EU Commission has imposed a €120 million fine on X (and Elon Musk personally), not for insufficient censorship, but officially for these three points.
The blue verification check mark, which can now be purchased for a small premium fee. The EU believes this practice is misleading.
The second reason is a lack of transparency in online advertising to control and evaluate political advertising on X.

What's the difference between X and Meta, re. ticks, checkmarks, or whatever signifiers they use? Also, since when did the EU prove impartiality and honesty beyond reproach, so they could be in charge of who "influences" my political and online activity? Clowns.
It's this incessant posturing as "the good guys" that makes the EU look like such weasels, in my opinion. "Oh, it's all so that the good, kind people won't fall prey to malicious political influencers and bad faith actors" when (as far as European citizens are concerned, at least) the EU are the worst of this lot.
Alas, plenty of Europeans love this nanny state who takes out "villains" like Musk. At our core, we want a great daddy to look over us and keep bad guys from our door, which is why the deceptively simple logic of "us good, them bad" has such a roaring success on this once-noble continent.
Also die 100M bezahlt X/Musk doch aus der Portokasse. Für mich Symbolpolitik mit wenig Auswirkung. Dass Musk jetzt zurück schiesst war klar (EU abschaffen). 😅🤷🏼♂️
Naja das mit dem Blauen Hacken ist aber auch wirklich irreführend, früher konnte man davon ausgehen, das es wirklich der Account des Promis etc. war, heute kann sich ja jeder einen kaufen ohne das was geprüft wird oder täusch ich mich? Zumindest hatte ich, obwohl ich nicht wirklich aktiv bin bei X, Hacken gesehen, die es so m.M. nicht hätte geben dürfen.
Dafür alle finde ich sind die 120 Mio schon zu wenig.

Ausgerechnet Ursula von der Leyen, die schon mal gerne SMS-chats von ihrem Diensthandy löschte, weil sie inoffizielle Deals mit Pfizer abgeschlossen hatte, und gegen die derzeit ein strafrechtliches Ermittlungsverfahren wg. Verdacht auf Korruption, Vernichtung von Beweismitteln, Amtsanmaßung und Interessenkonflikt anhängig ist, ausgerechnet diese Ausgeburt an Korruption wirft X mangelnde Transparenz vor!
