The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

in CineTV4 days ago

To end this week and begin a weekend I hope will be filled with fun and, of course, movies, I’m bringing to you a film I really enjoyed. It has serious themes and suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat. If you’re a fan of Se7en and Fight Club, you will definitely love this one. I guess I should just get to it and let you figure out whether or not this will constitute a good weekend watch for you.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011)

Michael Blomkvist is a journalist who is recovering from a libel suit that has quite nearly ended his professional career. He gets contracted by Henrik Vanger to investigate the disappearance of his sixteen-year-old, grand-niece, Harriet, and in exchange, he will provide him with evidence that will end the man who brought the libel suit against him. Michael, with nothing left to lose, accepts this contract.

On the other hand, there is Lisbeth Salander, a professional hacker and investigator, who is continuously sexually molested by her guardian, Nils Bjurman. Nils can get away with this since he is in control of Lisbeth’s finances and constantly threatens to have her institutionalized if she does not grant him sexual favours.

With a quick stroke of luck and chance, Blomkvist and Salander find themselves working together to crack the case of the mysterious disappearance of Harriet. Will they get lost in the rubble, or is their partnership the start of an indomitable force?

In the two hours and eighteen minutes of this film, I scarcely think there was a single drab scene. It all ran beautifully from the opening credits to the end. It’s easy for a film to become baseless once it reaches the two-hour mark. But it wasn’t the same with this one, as each scene was epic and captured vital moments that tied the film neatly together.

I think it’s impossible not to compliment the dexterity of David Fincher with the casting. Rooney Mara embodied her role as Salander like she was made for it. Not a single dull moment in her acting. Her poise, facial expressions, and speech delivery, all done with finesse. It’s kind of hard to see Daniel Craig in any other role than James Bond, but he didn’t do shabbily with his role either. And I love that the film didn’t make him out to be some emotionless macho, but showcased his vulnerabilities and weaknesses in a way that made him relatable.

As with all David Fincher’s movies, it’s dark, raw and gritty, in a way that may be hard for some to watch, and may actually find it disturbing. But if you’ve seen Se7en, you won’t be surprised at how this film turned out. The end was especially satisfying, and there’s nothing that quite completes a delicious ensemble like an even more amazing ending.

I did see that there was first a Swedish movie adaptation in 2009. I haven’t seen that one yet, but it’s even nearly as refreshing as this one, then that’s just lovely. Have an amazing weekend ahead, everyone, and yeah, do share your thoughts on this. Do you like The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo?

Yes I am a fan of Se7en and with that premise plus the title of the movie it has caught my attention enough to see it.

haha yeah, it's definitely hard to see Craig out of the Bond character, I'd have to see him in this movie to see what his acting spectrum offers, the macho part was counting on that jsjs and it wouldn't look bad when I read the title and his casting.

I suffer with the darkness in current movies but it's in the technical part, I just saw the last of us and it has that technical detail, I don't like that style at all with the technology of the current cameras, how to perceive sensations if I don't see well haha 😅, now the darkness of shady and evil things with that if I get along with it haha 🤗

Definitely with that name I add her to see, I like tattooed women what can I tell you 😁

I love David Fincher's movies, Se7en is so full of suspense and I never saw the end coming.
I'm yet to watch, the girl with a dragon tattoo, I will include it to my movie list because it sounds interesting.

I have this Movie's Novel before, I think it's of 3 part, there is also the Girl who kicked the Hornets nest.
I love this Thriller, I will definitely hop on it
