The chaotic conflict in world war ll, led to accumulation of mails written by soldier to their families, loved ones and partners, which lead to fear and concerns from love ones who were eager to hear from them.
It also affected the soldiers who were losing their morale because they needed response from their families
The ware house was fully occupied with millions of unsent letters ,
The Battalion the Women's Army Corps' all-Black battalion including over 800 female soldiers were sent to find a solution to the impossible challenge of sorting and sending this letters across the nation.
The black battalion were really determined to send this letters abroad and different parts of the world.
Especially, Lena who hasn't gotten a letter from her first love, ever since he went to war.
Captain Adam who led the battalion, was finally given a task after seeking it for a long time due to racism, sexism and neglect.
After a long journey by sea in a private vessel without a military export , her battalions matched to the place assigned to them to stay, which wasn't good enough, but they tried to make the best of it.
They were appointed to an old and abandoned grammar school and ask to use it as a postal office, barracks and execute their task there within six months, which seemed impossible.
They debated on an intelligent way to finish up the task before deadline, it wasn't an easy task but they conquered before deadline, and earned their respect and recognitions.
They gave the soldiers hope again as they began to receive letters from loves ones again.
This movie shows the challenges faced by this women and their triumph at the end .
The movie showcases their fight for recognition and struggles to stand out in a society that neglected their abilities. The Women's Army Corps' all-Black battalion, faced major and critical challenges , such as , numerous cases of identical names, multiple locator cards for soldiers as their units move, rats are damaging addresses and their contents and mold, among other things.
Lena observed that the soldiers are indicating the symbol of their division masthead on their letters, and that is an easy and quick way to identify where they are.
With the help of other female soldiers, Lena was able find Abram's letter, visited his grave side and was finally able to let go.
The 6888 succeeded in clearing all letters and sent out to families a total of 17 million pieces of mail in just 90 days, regardless of the challenges and obstacles.
They were later sent to Rouen, France, to clear another backlog. Lena later marries Hugh, Hugh is a soldier who fell in love with Lena during her training .
Depising the sexism, racism and many other challenges faced by the 6888 team, they wbere strong enough to achieve their goal and prove the people that doubted them wrongly and also gained recognitions.
