By 5:am I heard a child crying and that woke me up from sleep, for the past three weeks everywhere have been so calm because children are on holiday but just resuming today every thing changed.
Getting the children wake up early is one of the challenges that parents are facing during first week of school Resumption, on discussing with a parent she mentioned that she feels so bad immediately is 5:am because she doesn't want to wake the children up, the education system in this part of the world do not put into consideration the mental health of children, they don't consider the benefit of adequate sleep for the children brain development.
Sadly this has caused so many damages and slow down their growth but academically physically and mentally but no one cares.
Now this first challenge of not having enough sleep results to the second challenge teachers face in school during first week of Resumption, the children are not mentally ready for lessons and they didn't get enough sleep, the teachers will spend hours teaching but the children will not grab anything and the school authority will blame the teacher for not being proactive or effective, they will not put into consideration the mental state of the children in the class.
This second challenge brings forth to the third concern, the parents will have to do more after school lessons to help the child catch up and that involves more spending of money and time, this extra time makes it harder for the children to get to bed on time, they go to bed late and wake up early, at the end they find it difficult to get the best from education.
Thirty years ago when I was still very young, education was totally different from what I see around me today, then by 8:am we are on our way and by 1:pm we are back home, no lesson teachers because all we need was thought during school class and we got the point but today some school resumes by 6:am and some children gets home by 6:pm, so exhausting.
Unfortunately they think that's the best way to train the children even though they see the effects of such training, they can't do better because they have to go to work and make money for the family.
Education has changed a lot.
