Let me tell you about the afternoon I met Richard. It happened in a park in Nuevitas and it was love at first sight.

I was visiting that municipality in Camagüey, invited to a literary event. After an extensive day of reading, a group of friends and I decided to rest for a while and observe the beauty of the park, its gazebo, the aroma of the sea that called to us from very close by.

Animada por la queridísima @marpasifico, llego hasta ustedes con la intención de participar en el concurso Mensual Dogmingo, Ronda 1 - Julio de 2025.

Permítanme contarles sobre la tarde que conocí a Richard. Sucedió en un parque de Nuevitas y fue amor a primera vista.

Estaba yo de visita en ese municipio Camagüeyano invitada a un evento literario. Luego de una extensa jornada de lecturas, un grupo de amigos y yo decidimos descansar un rato y observar la belleza del parque, su glorieta, el aroma del mar que nos llamaba desde muy cerca.

De repente, de la nada llegó un hermoso perro hasta mi banco, me olfateó un poco y ante mi tímido: cosita hermosa, precioso, ¿qué buscas?, saltó sobre mí a jugar y a darme cariño.

Su dueño llegó segundos después sofocado y realmente avergonzado por lo que acababa de hacer su mascota.

— Perdón, le pido perdón —no dejaba de repetir—. Lo paseaba y se me cayó la correa.

De inmediato lo tranquilicé, diciéndole que era lo más hermoso que me había pasado ese día. Soy de las personas que cree que los animales sienten las energías y si una criatura desconocida había saltado así a mis brazos, no podía hacer más que sentirme agradecida y halagada.

Richard se negaba a regresar con su dueño, que incrédulo se limitó a tomarnos varias fotografías, pues, aunque su cachorro era manso e inofensivo, no se daba con los extraños.

Logramos que Richard se alejara de mí cuando tuvimos que partir hacia nuestras residencias de hospedaje. Recuerdo mirar hacia atrás y ver a su dueño regañándolo, dulcemente.

Pero aquella acción inocente del cachorro, me hizo sonreír todo el camino.
