One of the elements of love is acceptance, the best way to love ourselves is to accept our individual uniqueness without any sense of mediocrity.
THE SEASON OF DISSATISFACTION
While growing up,I had a sense of not being good enough. At first I battled with my physical appearance and skin color,as all my sisters are fair in complexion.
I honestly didn't feel good about myself,I was trapped in the chains of wanting to be like others.
During my secondary education,in school I found out they were other students who seemed more brighter than myself academically and that added to my personality dissatisfaction.
The feeling of inferiority complex affected every area of my life, led to failed relationships cause in different occasions I felt I was not beautiful, good and intelligent enough to fit into other people's space.
GAINING BACK MY TRUE IDENTITY
Before gaining admission into higher institution,I took out time to evaluate my whole being and compare it with God's word, and his intentions for creating me then I discovered a part of me that was so unique and personal in nature. Hence,I concluded that I was more than enough.
I began working on that discovered uniqueness,as I worked on my mentality I made peace with the fact that I was more than good and nothing was wrong with my physical appearance, skin color and academic performance.
When I finally got admission into the University,I learned, unlearn and relearn. I met new set of friends, new environment and I literally made a positive impact in the life of the people around me.
OUR FIRST RESPONSIBILITY
The first responsibility we owe ourselves is to accept who God has created us to be and then work towards becoming everything God has called to.
I've come to terms with the fact that the love we're looking for is first found within, waiting for people's validation before we feel good about our uniqueness is a wrong foundation to build on.
God did not make any mistake while creating everyone of us,he made us wonderfully and fearfully well.
THE RESULTS OF ACCEPTANCE
From accepting my individual uniqueness,I bagged a degree as a guidance counselor and also teenage coach.
As I fought and overcame inferiority complex,I discovered that a lot young people especially the teenagers are battling with similar issues.
The desire to reach out to young people energized me to established a foundation "WIN THEM YOUNG INITIATIVE" which aim at helping teenagers in all ramifications.
We're created with a unique nature irrespective of our diversity, we're fearfully and wonderfully made.
Today,I make sure that no teenager struggle with physical appearance or any form of mediocrity either internal or external.
I overcame, anyone can overcome.
