Reflections at the Beginning of the Year

I realize that I live in an era where so many people force their abilities and circumstances to follow trends. Lifestyle becomes a benchmark for presenting oneself as full of lies rather than living life as it is.

Now, many people in my environment are controlled by social media content, especially short videos on TikTok. Many people's lives are controlled by content: from lifestyle, social interactions, language, and even clothing.

It's as if the truth of something is measured by content, not common sense and a clear conscience. Many children use social media as a guide to life, when clearly, life guides are merely entertainment.

A coworker once gave me some good advice: "In this technological era, where AI is rampant, it's increasingly difficult to distinguish between truth and lies. It's also good for us as parents to guide the younger generation so they aren't easily influenced by offers on social media."

I personally realize that many friendships are destroyed, many families are torn apart, not because of betrayal, but because of overly insisting on a lifestyle that aligns with the content on social media. I once read an article that stated that a person's quality of life is not determined by the price of the things they buy, but by how they value the goodness and usefulness of those things for the good of humanity.

Therefore, I always advise my friends, family, and myself that we should not look at other people's success at any age. Because your family's economic situation is different from theirs, their friends are different, their social circles are different, and their family connections are different. So, be useful, don't harm others. The important thing is to be better today than you were yesterday.
