So the first project I knitted, was actually meant for me, for two reasons: I knew I was going to make mistakes and drop stitches, and because I had purposefully picked out a colour that made me instantly happy. It was pinched by @aimeludick ๐Ÿ˜œ - such is the life of a mother- so I decided to do mine last.

I moved on to @zakludick's one next and honestly after that I took a bit of a break as summer was upon us and I had no desire to work with wool.

I Started on Matthews Red and Black scarf, Oogieliboo, but the project was put on hold until the cold weather hit us again from about April/ May. This meant @merenludick, although patiently awaiting his turn, was borrowing his dad's Oogieliboo as I furiously got through Matthew's scarf and finally onto Meren's Oogieliboo, which proved to be a mighty challenge.

I asked of the family exactly what colour they wanted (except @aimeludick who pinched my scarf and @zakludick who was indifferent).

Matthew was determined to have a black and red striped scarf, which was good training for me as I learnt to switch wool colours every 50 rows or so. He was absolutely thrilled with it! Can you believe there is a whole child under there?!

Meren's Oogieliboo was far more challenging though, and even had me calling up the school to make sure he would be allowed to wear it with his school uniform. I not only had to change wool, but needles as well as the wool I chose for the stripes was very thin. Come to think of it, I don't know why I did it that way. Once again, a massive learning curve for me. I rushed it as the weather got horrible towards the middle/ end of May, and the heavens opened up in June, unrelentingly bombarding us with rain and thunderstorms. It is very unusual for Cape Town to have thunderstorms in the winter. It's more of a summer thing, when the humidity is high. I don't know, I can just feel it in my bones when it's thunderstorm weather in the summer that a storm is on the way, but in the winter? I have no idea.

Obviously, I was worried about @merenludick as he has the furthest to travel and I wanted to keep him as warm as possible. It was also definitely the fastest scarf I've made. Although I did a pretty damn good job for a beginner, I definitely rushed myself which led to a few booboos that were fine with the thick navy yarn, but horribly visible in the thinner wool I'd picked out for the stripes. @merenludick was over the moon when I presented it to him, especially because he has seen how hard I've been working on it and has been able to watch the process from beginning to end.

Then once that was done, I was left with... itchy fingers and dying to start another project. This time, my own. The original idea was to go purple and black, but when I went wool shopping, I totally changed my mind. I came across this stunning ombre wool, which I have never tried before, but it reminded me of My Little Ponies and Fairies and whatwhat instead of the dark colours I had originally picked out, which basically reminded me of the Depression Kitty from the "big Mouth" on Netflix. Far too close to my current state of mind, which I am trying to change.

The wool has turned out magically beautifully, with each row changing colour in time with each row I knit! It looks like a rainbow๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŒˆ and I am so thrilled.

Each row brings me happiness and that was the original goal. I can't wait to see the end product, but I am also going to savor every moment of creating this Oogieliboo for myself as it brings me so much joy!

After this scarf/ Oogieliboo, I have noted that they have a massive charity drive at the wool shop and I am so excited to get involved! After all, that was the original inspiration behind all of this to start with ๐Ÿ˜โค๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿฅฐ
