Hey lovelies ❤️
It's your favorite girl @debbie-ese 😍
Welcome to my blog 🤗
Today, I will be sharing with you one of the beautiful piece I have made in recent times and I must confess that it is such a masterpiece. The dress is a butterfly blouse and a pant. It is made from a combination of two fabrics, the blouse is made from chiffon fabric and the pant is made from silk fabric. The fabrics were bought as one, that is, the two different fabrics were packaged in one pack not that they were bought separately. They actually have similar designs but the texture is very different.
The style is quite easy to sew though it has some technicalities which if it isn't strictly followed will lead to a disaster class. Also, it took me about three days to complete the dress because I needed to use my Industrial Sewing Machine to make the dress. There was no constant supply of power, so I had to utilise every single time we had electricity. This is because it will make the dress neat as opposed to using a manual sewing machine. This doesn't mean I used the whole of three days, the number of hours all together may be approximately 2½ hours. The customer that has the dress also made for her daughter as well but it is a slightly different style and of course a different color of fabric. I will bw sharing it with you soon on another post.
Materials needed
- 2 yards chiffon fabric
- 3 yards silk fabric
- ½ yard bias
- Thread
- Tailoring chalk
Step by Step
The fabric we will be using for the blouse is 2 yards of chiffon fabrics.
Note that we shall be using the total wideness of the fabric (the width of the fabric is 45'), so we would be using 3' for the width and depth is 5'. The length of the top is 27'.
Start by folding the fabric into two and cut out the neck, and length of the top (which is 27')
Next, use a pressing iron to iron the fabric onfold so as to get a midpoint. Then open the top wide and take the body measurements but note to add 2' for ease.
You will proceed to take her bust measurement, and waist measurement (also add extra 2' for ease).
These measurements should be traced at both sides of the dress and ensure to use pins to hold it down to get accurate measurements.
Now head to the sewing machine to use bias to turn the neck, then sew the two sides you have chalked.
Bear in mind that the outer part of the top should not be less than 7' - it can be 8', 9', 10' and above to enable it have that butterfly effect.
With that being done we are done with the blouse
Then to start the pant, we will be using the following measurements - waist 32', hip 40', lap 26', crotch length 28', knee length, 22', trouser length 38'.
Start by folding your silk fabrics in half so that you can easily cut the two sides of the front pieces together.
Mark out all the measurements on the fabric and cut out the front piece and back piece.
Then cut a 4' wide fabric with length of 32' (plus 4') which will serve as an overlap in the zipper area.
Join the left and right side of the front piece and the left and right side of the back piece. Then attach the waistband to the appropriate place.
Attach the zipper and give the trouser a good press by flattening all the seams and your trouser is ready.
Thanks for reading and see you in my next one.

Hi @lauracraft
Thank you. The fabric was so soft and tender that it perfectly brought out the design. Thanks for stopping by.
