Hello Treasured people of the lovely community
Happy new week to you all
Hope you're all doing well todayy, I'm fine too
I'm so thrilled to share with you these processes i used in making this milkmaid dress for myself as my weekly task at work and I'm sure you'll be thrilled to see them as a write down
By the way, it's been a long while over here due to my busy schedule but regardless i hope everyone is doing good
A milkmaid dress is one of the task at work I've been waiting for , i find it so beautiful and wanted to own one to myself, i kept anticipating each week but finally we were set to make it last week and these are the few steps i used in making it :
Firstly
I used my pattern paper to draft the following measurements
I measured out my under burst, nipple to nipple point, burst measurement, waist and hips measurement
I first marked my basic body measurements i.e my chest line, burst line , under burst, half length and hips line .
After which i marked a corset on the basic body since this dress will be made in a corset pattern and from the waist line to the hips line , i made a V shape that will be use to join the gathered area and then turned my lining on it
I used the front pattern to cut out the back pattern which was supposed to be a v shaped too
While i was cutting out the front piece, i had made and off on the neckline of 7 inches , so i used the 7 inches and off from my shoulder measurements just to arrive a the sleeve line
The next step after turning the lining and gum stay on the fabric, i decided to work on the bust area. I cut out a fabric with a length that will fit in to the burst area with a breadth of 10 inches
I sat on my machine and did a loose stitch on the edge so that i can make a gathers. After gathering the fabric, this is what it looked like
I pleated the gathered fabric into the bust area making sure to pleat only the under part so that it won't puff out at the sides and this was the outcome
Here, i moved to the lower part of the dress. I cut out a fabric to my desired length and then made sure the wideness of it was more than 40 inches, note that this depends on how gathered you want your dress to look like .
I run a loosed stitch and then gathered the material depending on my round measurement on the fabric.
After adding the gathers to it, i proceeded to adding my sleeves and that was like the final process concerning this milkmaid dress
This was the final outcome 🥹🤭
I hope i did a nice job here
Thank you so much for stopping by , Family 💕
Have a lovely week ahead
