Este modelo me lo dio ella que lo estuvo viendo en en un personaje de una novela. Como sé que ella es un poco mística con la ropa le dije que ella misma buscara el modelo de un vestido para hacérselo, ya que desde que estoy cosiendo todavía no le había hecho ninguna prenda y en el momento que le fuera a hacer alguna tendría que ser algo especial y así lo fue.

Cuando escogió este modelo no me había gustado mucho, mi mamá cumplió este 20 de noviembre pasado 59 años y lo veía así muy sexy, quería que fuera un vestido más elegante y formal pero ella le gustó este modelo y fue el que traté de hacer.

Para esto estuve haciendo primero un patrón básico del vestido y así guardarlo para próximos proyectos. Luego estuve haciendo las modificaciones sobre todo en la parte de la blusa que llevaba un escote y también un fruncido en el pecho. Además los hombros descotados y abullonados.

Luego de buscar varias ideas de cómo realizarlo, logre mi cometido, empatando papel por aquí y por allá haciendo muchas medidas y utilizando un papel bond reciclado de las láminas de exposición de mi hija Arianna. Una vez hecho los patrones los estuve marcando en la tela y recortando para tener todo listo para luego coser.

Después quité todos los patrones de las telas y cómo les digo empecé a pasarle las costuras a máquina, primero por la parte de atrás que era lo más sencillo lo corté en una sola pieza y en la cintura le coloqué elástico, ya que quería que fuera fácil de ponérselo y no dejárselo tan ajustado, me gustó mucho, quedó perfecto ya estaré utilizando esta técnica en otras oportunidades. Le coloqué una tela por la parte de adentro de la cintura para que quedara forrado.

Luego seguí con la parte del pecho en donde en el centro le estuve colocando dobles costuras para meterle una tira que luego se amarraría y daría ese efecto arruchado, me dio un poco de dolores de cabeza porque vi muchos videos de cómo hacerlo y no encontré ninguno que fuera tal cual este vestido, había muchos de cómo hacer solo la blusa, pero no cómo hacerlo pegado a la falda, con todos los conocimientos que había adquirido de todos los videos que estuve viendo lo pude lograr, la verdad que cuando uno no sabe hacer algo y busca las maneras de aprender obtiene muchos más conocimientos que luego al unirlos podemos hacer cosas maravillosas.

Para hacer los hombros, estuve haciendo también la manga básica y luego haciendo algunas mediciones para poder hacerla descotada. Esta parte también se me complicó un poco porque tenía que cuadrarlo con el vestido y colocarle elástico y a la primera me quedó grande; al yo medírmelo, me quedó grandísimo y se lo llevé a mi mamá con la pena de mostrárselo antes de regalárselo y sí le había quedado demasiado grande. Así que tuve que descoser y quitarle un poco de elástico y asunto solucionado.

Y aunque en las fotos no se ve muy bien porque es negro y con pepas, aquí ya con mi mamá modelando su regalo pueden ver lo lindo que le quedó. Ella estaba muy contenta porque le quedó tal como lo quería o más bien como yo quería, porque este está más desahogado, los hombros no están tan descubiertos, tiene un escote más reservado. Y la verdad es que mi mamita se veía preciosa. Esta tela a mí me encanta; siempre he querido un vestido de pepas; un día de estos me voy a hacer uno para mí con el corte princesa, pero me emociona que se lo pude haber hecho a mi mamá para celebrar sus 59 años, esperando que sean muchísimos más en los que pueda llenarla de detalles en su día especial.

Les cuento que yo compré un metro y medio de tela berverlín para hacer esta creación y todavía me quedaron como 40 cm, con lo que le estuve haciendo de manera flash una camisa de regalo para mi sobrina, que también cumplía ese mismo día, y luego se las estaré mostrando cuando ella me pase una foto de cómo le quedó.

A dress for my mum

Greetings and blessings, my dear friends at @needleworkmonday, I haven't been here for a few days and I was eager to show you more of my creations. I've made quite a few lately and, thank God, they've all turned out really well. Today I have the opportunity to share with you the dress I was making for my mum for her birthday. As you can see in the photos, it looks great on her. Now I'll show you how I made it.

She gave me this pattern, which she saw on a character in a soap opera. As I know she's a bit mystical when it comes to clothes, I told her to find a dress pattern herself so I could make it for her, as I hadn't made her any clothes since I started sewing and when I did make her something, it had to be something special, and so it was.

When she chose this model, I didn't like it very much. My mum turned 59 on 20th November and I thought it looked very sexy. I wanted it to be a more elegant and formal dress, but she liked this model and that's the one I tried to make.

To do this, I first made a basic pattern for the dress so I could save it for future projects. Then I made modifications, especially to the blouse, which had a neckline and gathering at the chest. I also made the shoulders low-cut and puffed.

After looking for several ideas on how to do it, I achieved my goal, taping paper here and there, taking many measurements and using recycled bond paper from my daughter Arianna's exhibition sheets. Once the patterns were done, I marked them on the fabric and cut them out so that everything was ready for sewing.

Then I removed all the patterns from the fabric and, as I said, I started to machine stitch it, first on the back, which was the easiest part. I cut it in one piece and put elastic at the waist, as I wanted it to be easy to put on and not too tight. I really liked it, it turned out perfect, and I will be using this technique again. I added fabric to the inside of the waistband to line it.

Then I moved on to the chest area, where I put double seams in the centre to insert a strip that would then be tied to give that gathered effect. It gave me a bit of a headache because I watched lots of videos on how to do it and couldn't find any that were exactly like this dress. There were lots on how to make just the blouse, but not how to make it attached to the skirt. With all the knowledge I had acquired from all the videos I was watching, I was able to do it. The truth is that when you don't know how to do something and you look for ways to learn, you gain a lot more knowledge, and then when you put it all together, you can do wonderful things.

To make the shoulders, I also made the basic sleeve and then took some measurements to be able to make it low-cut. This part was also a little complicated because I had to square it with the dress and add elastic, and at first it was too big. When I tried it on, it was huge, and I took it to my mum, embarrassed to show it to her before giving it to her, and yes, it was too big for her. So I had to unpick it and remove some of the elastic, and that solved the problem.

And although you can't see it very well in the photos because it's black and has polka dots, here with my mum modelling her gift, you can see how nice it looked on her. She was very happy because it turned out just as she wanted it, or rather as I wanted it, because it's more modest, the shoulders aren't so exposed, and it has a more conservative neckline. And the truth is that my mum looked gorgeous. I love this fabric; I've always wanted a polka dot dress; one of these days I'm going to make one for myself with a princess cut, but I'm thrilled that I was able to make one for my mum to celebrate her 59th birthday, hoping that there will be many more years in which I can shower her with gifts on her special day.

I bought a metre and a half of berverlín fabric to make this creation and I still had about 40 cm left, so I quickly made a shirt as a gift for my niece, who also had her birthday that same day, and I'll show you how it turned out when she sends me a photo.
