Encapsulated glass spheres: Earrings and pendant [Eng-Esp]

Greetings, fellow craft lovers! Welcome back to my workshop @bricolajedc. This time, we're going to make a set of beautiful earrings and a pendant with amber glass beads encased in wire. Join me and I'll show you the creative process.

Saludos amigos amantes de las artes manuales! Les doy la bienvenida una vez más a mi taller @bricolajedc, en ests oportunidad vamos a realizar un set de bellos aretes y colgante con esferas de cristal ambar y encapsuladas en alambre. Acompáñenme y les muestro el proceso creativo.

One of the things I love about working with wire is how versatile it is. The feeling of working, bending, twisting, braiding, and shaping wire is unique. It keeps my mind active all the time, thinking about what I could use the wire for and discovering new techniques.

This technique of encapsulating glass spheres captivated me from the start. I find it easy to do, but it gives the pieces an elegance that is impressive, considering that they are just glass spheres. Today I will tell you step by step how to achieve this effect.

Una de las cosas que me encantan de trabajar el alambre es lo versátil que es. La sensación al trabajar, doblar, entorchar, trenzar y dar forma al alambre es única, me hace tener la mente activa todo el tiempo pensando en qué podría usar el alambre y descubriendo nuevas técnicas.

Esta técnica de encapsular esferas de cristal me atrapó desde el principio. Me parece sencilla de realizar pero le da una elegancia a las piezas que es impresionante que sean solamente esferas de cristal. Hoy te contaré paso a paso como lograr este efecto.

Materials:

We will only need three materials for this beautiful set.

18-gauge hypoallergenic wire
30-gauge hypoallergenic wire
5 amber-colored glass beads (also called marbles, metras, or balls)
Gold-colored Czech seed beads #10

We will also need jewelry pliers and a metric ruler.

Vamos a necesitar solamente 3 materiales para este bonito set.

Alambre calibre 18 hipoalergénico
Alambre calibre 30 hipoalergénico
5 esferas de cristal color ámbar (llamadas también canicas, metras, bolas)
Mostacilla checa #10 en color dorado

Necesitamos también, las pinzas para bisutería y una regla métrica.

Taking the #18 wire directly from the roll to save material, we will cut the tip with the straight cutting pliers.

With the 6-in-1 pliers at setting #6, we make a semicircle for the hook. We leave the section closest to the end of the wire longer than the circle and, with the flat pliers, we bend it slightly to finish the hook.

Tomando el alambre #18 directamente del rollo para ahorrar material, vamos a cortar la punta con la pinza de corte recta.

Con la pinza 6 en 1 en la medida #6 hacemos un semicírculo para el anzuelo. Dejamos el tramo más cercano al extremo del alambre más largo que el círculo y con la pinza plana doblamos un poco para terminar el anzuelo.

Once the hook is in place, bend the other end slightly to give it the shape you need. You can use flat-nose pliers to help you.

Una vez que está el anzuelo, doblamos un poco el otro extremo para darle la forma que necesitamos, podemos ayudarnos con la pinza plana.

Using the metric ruler, measure 3 centimeters from the fold and cut.

Con la regla métrica, medimos 3 centímetros desde el doblez y cortamos.

We make a ring with size 1 of the round pliers.

Hacemos un aro con la medida 1 de la pinza redonda.

And now we have the base for our earring. Now we're going to repeat the process to create the second earring. We can use the first base as a guide so that they look as similar as possible.

Y ya está la base de nuestro arete. Ahora vamos a repetir para crear el segundo arete. Podemos seguir la primera base como guía, asi quedará lo más parecida posible.

To encapsulate the sphere, take the #18 wire directly from the roll and make a spiral, leaving a gap between each turn.

Complete four turns and place the sphere on the spiral.

Para el encapsulado de la esfera, tomamos el alambre #18 directamente del rollo, vamos a hacer un espiral tratando de dejar una separación entre cada vuelta.

Completamos 4 vueltas y vamos a colocar la esfera sobre el espiral.

Using flat-nose pliers and our fingers, we will separate the coils of the spiral that are holding the sphere in place.

Con ayuda de una pinza plana y nuestros dedos vamos a separar las vueltas del espiral que atrapen la esfera.

We make two more small turns and cut off the excess so that we are left with the encapsulated sphere.

Hacemos 2 pequeñas vueltas más y cortamos el excedente para que nos quede la esfera encapsulada.

We are going to wrap wire around three glass beads. One for each earring and one for the pendant.

Vamos a encapsular en alambre 3 esferas de cristal. Una para cada uno de los aretes y una para el colgante.

We take the sphere and attach it to the base of the earring we made previously, hanging it on the hoop.

Tomamos la esfera y la unimos a la base del arete que hicimos previamente colgandola en el aro.

We close the hoop and will need 40 centimeters of #30 wire with the seed beads. We thread the seed beads onto the wire directly from the roll.

We hold the tip of the #30 wire at the base of the earring and begin to wrap the seed bead.

Cerramos el aro y vamos a necesitar 40 centímetros de alambre #30 con la mostacilla. Introducimos las mostscillas en el alambre directamente del rollo.

Sujetamos la punta del alambre #30 en la base del arete y comenzamos a enrrollar la mostscilla.

When we reach the bend in the hook, we cut off the excess wire and that's it.

Our earrings are now finished.

Cuando lleguemos al quiebre del anzuelo cortamos el excedente de alambre y listo.

Tenemos nuestros aretes terminados.

We will do the same for the pendant; we just need a rhodium chain to hang it and that's it.

Para el colgante haremos lo mismo, solamente necesitamos una cadena de rodio para colgarlo y listo.

I love how these beautiful encapsulated spheres turn out. We can also make a bracelet using this technique. I promise to bring a step-by-step guide for this project to our next workshop.
