A kind little one, a heart of stone, and a soul of nature

Hello, Holozing community! 🌈 Today, I’m incredibly excited to show you my latest fan art: Terrarion, the ground element dragon šŸŒæšŸ‰.

After my previous painting—a massive destructive dragon for Splinterlands—I wanted to go the opposite direction: instead of chaos and destruction, I aimed to create an adorable, calm, and peaceful dragon. That’s how this version of Terrarion was born, resting peacefully on the grass, munching on a rock as if it didn’t have a care in the world.

I’ve always felt a special connection with dragons. They represent power, mystery, freedom, and magic. Every time I pick up my tablet to paint them, I feel like I’m not just designing creatures—but entire worlds. That’s why I’ve set a personal goal: to paint every dragon in Holozing. This is already the third one—so far, I’ve painted Verdion and Emberion—but I plan to collect them all, including their evolutions, even though some are giant and fierce.

šŸŒ TERRARION: THE LITTLE GUARDIAN OF THE EARTH 🌿

In the Holozing universe, every creature has its own role in battles, and Terrarion is no exception. Though it’s a small and adorable dragon, don’t be fooled by its calm appearance: it masters the power of the earth element and can surprise its rivals with attacks charged with mineral strength.

I believe Terrarion channels energy from the ground, using rock fragments and seismic waves to defend itself or counterattack. It’s a strategic rather than aggressive creature, ideal for those who enjoy designing tactics based on resistance, field control, and calculated moves.

In the future, I also want to paint it in a battle scene, reflecting all these abilities!

🧠 TOOLS USED:

  • Photoshop (as always, my digital salvation).
  • Brushes: my trusty brush pack, with a few new ones featuring glitter effects
  • Soundtrack: This week I saw a recommendation on Instagram for a super epic band called Aephanemer. They're awesome for painting dragons—though fair warning, they're a bit heavy for people who like symphonic metal
  • Resolution: 1080x1920 px

(Thx to @holozing for such adorable creatures to bring to life!)

ā° CREATIVE PROCESS

āœļø Phase 1: Sketch & Lineart

From the beginning, I had a very clear visual concept: Terrarion had to look adorable and serene.

In this phase, I worked on the pose, aiming for a relaxed look with its body resting on the grass. To align the head’s position, I started with a rough box shape, then gradually defined the dragon’s features, trying to stay as close as possible to Holozing’s official design—though I’ll admit, it didn’t turn out quite as front-facing as I’d hoped

šŸŽØ Phase 2: Base Colors

I used the Pen Tool to make precise selections and separate each element of the character into independent layers: body, rock, and grass. This allowed me to work with greater control over textures, lighting, and shading without affecting the rest of the illustration.

šŸŒ— Phase 3: Shadows, Details, and Textures

I focused on defining Terrarion’s rendering, using a soft brush to build up volume and create that sense of depth that makes it look round and soft. The cutest touch is the eye—I made the iris with a large pupil to give it that sweet, adorable look, just like kittens with big pupils look incredibly charming.

🌟 Phase 4: Final Details and Atmosphere

Finally, the most satisfying phase arrived: the final details.

I added subtle scales to keep the dragon’s skin from looking too smooth, using the Soft Light blending mode, and introduced subtle color variations because I felt the all-brown design was a bit boring.

The final result is exactly what I envisioned: a chubby, peaceful, and adorable dragon that embodies the calmest side of nature.

And so, Terrarion becomes the third dragon in my personal Holozing series. šŸ‰
This project is special to me—I want to paint every dragon in the game, each with their own personality, story, and essence. Verdion turned out absolutely wild, Emberion is a fury of fire, and Terrarion is this little dragon that snacks on rocks.
