AGE OF CHASE - THE BLACK FOILS

Hello Splintermates and fellow Hiveans,

Happy 7th Year anniversary @splinterlands . 7 years of thriving with 3 bear markets and multiple ups and downs. Who would have thought that splinterlands can weather several crypto bust and boom cycles. With multiple crypto projects closing down Splinterlands community is still going stronger . From alpha set, beta set, untamed set , chaos set and rebellion set now we are at the age of chase the conclave arcana set - the introdcution of blacks foils.

So for this challenge i am going to share a modern ranked battle using black foil. Since i'm not been lucky in the conclave arcana presale to strike a black foil during the first day of pack opening. I rented some black foils to used in the battlefield to be able to understand what it brings.

WHAT IS BLACK FOIL CARDS

Black foil card is one of the new foil type introduced together with gold foil arcane and black foil arcane. The first card type release on this is the promo card black foil arcane skinwalker and black foil gramel the hunger. Black Foils appear randomly in Conclave Arcana packs as max-level cards with collectible numbering. They cannot be combined.

PERKS OF BLACK FOIL :

1. +20% Reward bonus in ranked battles
2. Half the cooldown of Gold Foil cards in Survival Mode
3. 5x the DEC burn value, Collection Power, and Contribution in Conflicts of Gold Foils
4. 5x base Production Point multiplier (same as Beta cards)

Let's find out how is the +20% reward bonus in ranked battles is giving us more sps when we win.

THE BATTLE :

So in this battle i am up against a strong opponent with fully maxed level cards compared to my mixed silver, gold and diamond level card. My opponent used his dragon kavor skarn as his archon together with his 6 units halfling refugee,night reaper, redwyrm dragon, satha toledo, gobson sniper and borming hobgolin. While i used my death black foil archon razi clanktrap with my other choosen 6 units grimbardun fighter, black foil boring hobgoblin, arachne weaver, gramel the hunger, gonach excavator and chaos adjutant.

RULE SET: 44 MANA

AIMLESS - all magic and ranged attack has scattershot
TI'S BUT SCRATCHES - all units have cripple
ODDS ONE OUT - you can only summon units with odd mana cost

POSITIONING & STRATEGY:

UNITS :

For my positioning and strategy i used grimbardun figter as the tank because of its shield ability and deflect ability supported by boring hobgoblin . I forced this to include in the battle because i want to demonstrate the perks of using black foil . I put Arachne weaver in third position because this is the most important unit in the team due to its corrupted healing which restore 70% health of each allied unit each round making my unit live longer. My fourth position is gramel the hunger which is my supporting tank incase my opponent will go for all frontal attack while i i used gonach excavator for my sneak attack and chaos adjutant as the last one because of its scattershot and poison ability although it is vulnerable to sneak attack as it has not have an armor which i should exchange position with gonach excavator.

BATTLE RESULT :

The final battle result shows that i was able to win 19.464 SPS . That is because of my bonuses. Provided i don't have a winstreak bonus and guild bonus. The biggest contributor to my bonus was the two blackfoil which gives me a 40% bonus with 20% each . Gold cards gives me 20% , one of this is gramel the hunger which also gives an additional 10 percent for being a promo card.

MY THOUGHTS

Black foil cards are very good to use in battle because of its 20% perk bonus, which can go up to 30% per card if you have a black foil gramel the hunger which is also a promo card which give an additional 10%. The problem is that this black foil cards got only limited copies which few only have it. The good thing is you can rent them which the one i did to have the taste of black foil and to feel the new era which conclave arcana brings.....
