Splinterlands Social Media Challenge - Using Eternal Tofu in Silenced Archons

in Splinterlands8 days ago

Hello everyone! This is my second entry for this week's Splinterlands Social Media Challenge. Today, I'm sharing a battle of mine in Modern Champion Ranked.

I fought an interesting battle in Modern Champion ranked. In this battle, I ended up using Eternal Tofu in the Silenced Archons rule set. It must have just been a dumb mistake, right? It certainly could have been, but in this game, it wasn't. I don't own any of the 3 mana dual splinter Archons, and I wanted to use Life and Earth units. Specifically, Calabash Sage and Silverleaf Mage were two units I really wanted to use. In the end, I built a team that I wanted, and the 3 extra mana I was paying over the 4 mana Archons was worth it. Funnily enough, my opponent also used Eternal Tofu. However, in their case, unless they had no 3, 4, or 5 mana Earth Archons, it was a mistake. That's because all of their units belong to Earth or are Neutral. They had some dual splinter units, but those still had Earth. And that's how we ended up with a high rating battle where both players used Eternal Tofu in the Silenced Archons rule set!

This game had the following rule sets: Silenced Archons, Earthquake, and Blood and Sunder. It was a 52 mana cap game, and only Dragon and Fire were inactive. As I said before, we both picked Eternal Tofu. I went with Mantaroth in front, followed by Taye Loreswift. Next, I had Venka the Vile, Caravan Guard, and Calabash Sage. I finished the team with Silverleaf Mage. They placed Grimbardun Smith in front and Pallun in the Reach position. Riklauniman was next, followed by Thanalorian Blade and Heloise the Hollow. In the last slot, they used Virid Venomancer, which provided Heloise with Shield.

Ambush Round

Pallun attacked Mantaroth with Ambush because it was next Riklauniman and they had the Kindred Spirit/Kindred Will interaction. It was the first time I saw it in action.

Round 1

We traded a few attacks. The Venomancer Poisoned my Silverleaf Mage. Caravan Guard killed Heloise, and Spite took it out. Grimbardun Smith got the Weary. Calabash Sage also killed Heloise, but the Spite was way less effective, simply taking the armor. Pallun received the Weary.

Round 2

Venka killed Heloise, and it died to Spite. It was the Venomancer's turn to get Weary. Riklauniman Stunned my Mage, and Thanalorian Blade finished it. The Poison Burst affected the Blade and Heloise. Mantaroth eliminated the Smith and left Pallun at 1 HP. The Sage killed Heloise again, and, because Mantaroth Repaired its armor, Spite was mostly armless here. Riklauniman got Weary.

Round 3

Earthquake's damage finished Taye and Riklauniman, while the Poison took out their Blade. Heloise used her normal attack for the first time this game (I noticed that's something she rarely does in most games), putting my Sage to 2 HP. Their two other units got Exhausted, although I don't think it was relevant for the outcome of the game. Mantaroth attacked and killed Pallun. Sage eliminated Heloise for good and had the armor to protect from Spite, once more.

Round 4

Their last unit died to the Earthquake.

I ended up winning this game despite facing Heloise, which is usually nerve-racking. Maybe if they had 4 or 3 more mana, I would have lost, so I'm thankful they didn't notice the Silenced Archons rule set. Despite the Corrosive Ward, I was very happy with Mantaroth because Repair was clutch for Calabash Sage's survival against Heloise. Silverleaf Mage was also great at absorbing the attacks that would have otherwise gone into my frontline. Despite the subpar Poison Burst, it was still enough to kill their last non-Weary unit.

What do you all think about this game? Would you have done anything different? Let me know in the comments! Thank you for reading!!

Seems like Tofu is so strong that most people don't even bother with buying the other summoners from what you're saying.. 🤣🤣

Well, in my case I had almost everything from Chaos Legion so I didn't buy most stuff from Rebellion. I didn't need the rare and common summoners from Rebellion. I just bought what I could buy and absolutely needed. Tofu was on my list as soon as it was revealed to have Thorns. Now, with Chaos Legion out of Modern, I didn't go back to Rebellion. Instead, I focused on Conclave Arcana's pre sale. So I certainly have other summoners even in the same splinters.

Yeah, with CL being that cheap there was little point in focusing on Rebellion up until now..

Wow, so many max level monsters in a single battle, what a powerful match. Thanks for sharing, keep playing and growing.
