Surely you're operating at a significant loss.
I joined at the start of Chaos Legion and my referrer didn't really give me anything 🤣
I did face one of your referees in ranked and I noticed his account was looking rather conspicuous but I get it now.
At the same time I must say the game would feel much more enjoyable to low level players in ranked games if they reverted the rules for summoner levels around specific ratings.
New players joining might not even know this is a thing but to me the game was much more fair and fun back then and it hasn't felt the same since.
Thanks for the comment! I'm in for the long term, so the way I see it I benefit in two ways:
(1) if I help players join (and stay!) then the whole ecosystem wins, and so do I
(2) if I get some players who stay committed for a long time, the gains for me will also compound; it just takes 1 whale to cover my costs :)
In any case, it serves the greater good of the game, which is completely in my best interest.
My referrals get Silver decks btw so they should be competitive until roughly Gold, where I think many decks start to have lots of higher level cards.
