Flexing My Skins To The Game

Hello there! @saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!

When I say "Skins to the game", I'm not talking about my assets, after all, even when you combine all my assets that were spread out into different accounts, it's still nowhere near the top 500, maybe even the top 1000 players in the game. What I'm talking about were the "Skins" which were visual items that changes the appearance of the cards in the game. Until yesterday, skins were available in the Glint Shop as part of the Hollow's Fall Event.

There were also skins that can be found in the Ultimate Chest, but that did not last too long. This is despite the fact that only a season after the release of the skins, the Conclave Arcana rewards has been released, so you will think that players will save all their Glint for that. Apparently, that was not the case and that was the same for me. As a result, I am now struggling in getting enough Glint to even buy a batch of Major chests. But at least, I have skins to flex. It will be the worst case if I opened all those Ultimate chests and I did not get anything.

Anyway, here are the skins I got.

Hollow's Fall Spooky Skins

First, I got to show you the skins that I directly purchased from the Glint Shop. The pricing of the Skins on the Glint shop starts with 500 Glint for a common skin and goes up to 20,000 Glint for a Legendary skin. I only purchased the skins which I had the card to use them. Aside from the card with the Spooky Skin, I also place the card with the default skin, so that we can compare how each card differs with and without Skin.

I bought 3 common, 2 rare and 2 epic skins, which in total costs me 22,500 Glint, which is not bad, since many of this cards were a good part of modern meta. What's really expensive was the Ultimate Chests, even before it was updated for the Conclave Arcana rewards.

Hollow's Fall Skins From Ultimate Chests

When it comes to the skins, that can be found from chest, which costs 135,000 Glint per batch, it was divided into two categories. There is the "Spooky" skins which cap to 100 pcs. per skin and there was the "Haunted" skin which there is 10 pcs per card. I mostly got Spooky skin but I was also lucky to get some Haunted skin.

Overall, I opened 3 batches of Ultimate chests, albeit it was from different accounts. And what I got were 3 Spooky skins, all of which are summoner skins, and two of which are Lorkus Skins. I do not have Sheng Xiao though, so I might be willing to trade it along with my extra Lorkus skin. I just don't know how they will be priced at the moment, but I am always open of negotiations.

Then for the Hunted Skin, I got one for Stampeding Calp, and this is also the reason why I did I did not buy the Spooky in the Glint shop.

How To Apply Your Skin

image.png

The process of applying a card skin is very simple. Just go to your Card Collection Page, select the card with the skin, and under the Active Skin, select either the Spooky or Hunted in the dropdown menu.

If otherwise, what you want is to transfer your skin from one account to another, you can do it through a custom_jason by following the steps on this Article.

Or if you are negotiating to another player to purchase their skins, and want to verify the skins that they have, you can do it by entering the url:

    https://api.splinterlands.com/players/skins?username=YOURUSERNAME

Just replace the "YOURUSERNAME" to the username of the player you want to transact. For example, here is mine.

Closing

And that was all for me flexing my skins. Winterfest is also close, and if I'm not wrong, they are also planning to release new skins for that season, and I don't think I will have any Glint saved for that, given how expensive the items in the Glint shop currently are. So I am glad that I could at least have the skins that I have, and make my cards a little unique compared to other players.

Thank you, and see you on the next post!

I'm just not a fan of the cosmetics if it doesn't offer me an increase in rewards. I bought the original skins for some of the beta cards because those assets contributed to the SPS tokens I earned during the airdrops.

But for this new round of spooky skins, I stayed far away. I made sure not to open any rewards chests until all the spooky skins were claimed and I didn't buy any of the extra skins with Glint. So may call me a party pooper, but I'm focused on maxing out the reward cards as quickly as possible. That's where all my Glint goes!

Fair enough. Glint can only be earned by playing the game, and with the price of chests and draws doubled, it is logical not to spend them on cosmetics. That said, many did not buy chest just for the skins. They also did it to get missing copies of Rebellion rewards. Getting skins is just a bonus.
