Splinterlands Virtual Real Estate Updates: Land Setup Optimization

SPL - Default - Efficiency Part 2(1280 x 720 px).gif

The recent buzz around the Splinterlands community was about Land Efficiency Ratios. I summarized my interpretation of these new terms in my most recent POST. I also did an analysis of my own numbers.

Not long after posting 3 articles describing and explaining the aforementioned metrics, @azircon came up with another! A fourth publishing in his series providing us plots and data regarding players' positions with respect to other names in the community.

He stated the following goals:

  • Look for overall inefficiency in Land utilization, and fix them
  • Motivate people to improve their land game
  • Compare yourself with others, and see how can you improve
  • Compare yourself with peers, meaning people with similar assets and investments

This latest post was meant for us, Splinterlands Players and Praetorian Citizens, to find out where we stand in this space. This was also meant for us to identify where we can further improve our land configurations.

Since the graphs and data are self-explanatory, I will not further elaborate on this information. I have linked AZ's post HERE for you to reference, in case you missed it.

While it's great to see my name highlighted a few times across different posts, I know there's so much more I can do to improve my system.

My goal today is to identify the areas where I can further optimize my land arrangement and hope I can inspire other players to do the same to improve their own setups.

Weekly Updates: Routine Harvest

Every other day or so, I would harvest my land resources and swap them for DEC. I also collect taxes from my Keeps every Saturday.

Taxes from the past week were way, way better than usual as I was met with a very pleasant surprise:

Taxes from Region 46 Keep

Taxes from Region 50 Keep

Well, hello there, Legendary Totem Fragment! Great to see you!

I also earned the following from resource swapping:

DEC earned on 25.5.26

DEC earned on 25.5.28

DEC earned on 25.5.31

As usual, the taxes collected from the Region 46 Keep were converted to Guild Power and were used to power up our Guild's buildings.

DEC equivalent of Keep 46 taxes

Guild Contribution

The last step of my Weekly Routine is increasing my position in the Grain-DEC Liquidity Pool.

New Assets: More Acquisition

I keep seeing deals on the market. I also bought back some plots from a friend who didn't prioritize the land game at the moment.

Though I did top up some credits to acquire more plots, a portion of my weekly income was used to offset that cost.

Today, I have 82 active plots out of 347 total.

Should I start activating more plots or keep buying deals off the market? Hmmm...

Optimization Section: Where Can I Do Better

I had some unused power cores that I finally decided to utilize. After spending a little bit of time planning (the 3-day cooldown for cards is a big PITA), I finally activated more plots.

In my previous post, I shared a screenshot showing I had 78 active plots. As seen in the image above, I now have 82.

I'm getting closer to running the equivalent of a full tract.

Land Plot Efficiency (LPE) Improvements

This one is simple. The formula for LPE is:

Land Plot Efficiency (LPE) = (Total DEC Equivalent generated/hr)/ (Number of active Plots)

We can also use Beaker's TOOL to find this number. Just keep in mind, there might be some variance on the results as the resource-to-DEC exchange rates are not constant.

LPE slightly below 5.5

But my previous article showed that I had an LPE ratio of 6.3. What happened?

It could have been fluctuation in the amount of DEC I could get from my resources. It could also be a math error on my end.

Azircon graciously provided me the correct number in the comments. My actual LPE at that time was 5.76.

Screenshot from Azircon's comment from data gathered on 25/5/29

You can also see that I had 80 active plots. This data was most likely taken while I was in the middle of shuffling around some workers, needing to remove the Cores from some plots in preparation for staking them on others.

Since adding two more plots to the active list, my LPE ratio dipped a little bit lower. This means that the units I staked onto the plots do not have high enough PP to at least maintain my LPE ratio. This also means that the DEC generated from these two plots isn't significant enough to hold that LPE number.

So what do we need to do the improve our LPE?

The answer is to generate more DEC from resources either by staking higher PP workers or add boosts to the plots using titles, totems, and Runi.

Land Card Efficiency (LCE) Improvements

Land Card Efficiency (LCE) = (Total PP employed)/ (Total DEC Equivalent generated/hr)

The image below shows that I have an LCE ratio of 3188. Also, I think I should mention that it's the BASE PP that is calculated for this metric, not BOOSTED.

LCE ratio at 3188

Someone please correct me if I'm mistaken, but I believe for this metric, the lower your ratio is, the better.

The lower PP you need to generate the amount of DEC you currently get per hour means you are more efficient.

I'm not as concerned with this metric as much as the LPE and the LDE. The latter, we will get to in the next subsection.

Land DEC Efficiency (LDE) Improvements

Now this one is really interesting.

Land DEC Efficiency (LDE) = (total_dec_stake_in_use)/(DEC/hr*24)

As of this writing, my total staked DEC is 1,736,344. My hourly DEC is approximately 448 DEC / hr.

image.png

A bit lower than the 500 DEC / hr I used to acquire just a few days ago. Again, this could be due to the fluctuation of the resource-to-DEC exchange rates. I didn't remove any production from DEC producing plots. If anything, I added more production!

Using to the formula, my LDE would be 1,736,344 / (448*24) = 161.49. Real close to the LDE shown in the table above (155.41).

Per Azircon, using himself as an example in his previous post:

I stake 26,486,015 DEC to earn 719.41 DEC/hr -> or 719.41*24 = 17,265.84 DEC/day

My LDE = 26,486,015 / 17,265.84 = 1534.01

In other words, I am keeping 1534 DEC staked to earn 1 DEC/day. Here high LDE is not good. Efficient people will have lower LDE.

I am already very efficient! Not the most efficient one but still, you can't deny that the numbers look good!

In case I want to further improve my LDE, here's what I can do. See samples below. Both are Rare, Natural Bogs in my home Region 50, Ia'telda. Both plots have max level workers,

Screenshot from peakmonsters.com

I can:

  • Replace the max level RF Venari Wavesmiths with max level GF Chaos Legion Commons (Death or Water for terrain preference bonus) like Pelacor Decievers. It will require the same amount of staked DEC (10,000 for max level units) but will have more Production Points meaning more net resources available for swapping to DEC. More hourly DEC earned = higher denominator = lower ratio.

  • Replace the max level RF Venari Wavesmiths with lower level cards that can match the same production points (i.e. 23 BCX Rare Beta units). Lower DEC staking requirements will be needed due to the proportion of the staked card's BCX to the total BCX of its max level version. Lower DEC staked = lower numerator = lower ratio. Can also use fewer cards as long as the target PP per plot is met.

Sample comparison HERE.

So what do you think I should do? What would you do?

Next Steps: The Dilemma

I have been acquiring more and more plots as the weeks go by.

Is it time to start activating more plots? What will this do to my overall efficiency ratios?

I can use the proceeds from my weekly income to buy Power Cores and gradually put more plots online.

I can also use earnings to buy or rent more efficient workers.

My goal is to have 100 plots across different regions up and running. This kind of emulates running a full tract.

As I work towards this goal, I will do my best to at least retain my efficiency rankings. It is indeed an amazing feeling to be compared to and grouped with some of the big names in the ecosystem. It's as if I am in the same league as they are!

Bonus: Pleasure Doing Business

I have once again found some deals that would help me expand my holdings in my main region.

I recently reached out to Bulldog to see if he was interested in plot trades. Luckily, he was willing to help me get what I needed. He also didn't mind which other region the plots I am trading are in, as long as they are together and are of similar land types.

Shortly after I finished clearing the four plots I was going to trade away, I checked if he was available to make the trade.

I sent him the plots first. Later on, he sent me 4 plots in return.

And just like that, another deal was completed! Hewitt sent me 5 plots in Region 50 and in return, I sent him back 5 plots, as well! I gave him a small tip just because he me his assets first.

Thanks for the trust, good sir!

Awesome to see that all the effort you put into land is paying off! Great article, it does comply with the tasks that azircon had set :-D

It just turned out to be that way lol.

I wasn't looking for efficiency numbers when I first setup my land.

I just set it up in a way that works for me and the ratios turned out to be great!

Seems like efficiency is in your bones, then!

Ahahaha thanks bro. Can't wait for what's up ahead!

The keeps look like fun and the Land game is definitely becoming more interesting. Thanks for sharing!

Yes, it's fun especially getting fragment freebies like that!

I see you have active lands, too. That's a great start!

Yep, I originally had 10 swamps but then they stopped producing grain so I had to make some moves! Can't wait to see what comes next.

In the beginning, I was pretty bummed that all the plots I was able to acquire were Lakes.

Now, Grain plots like that are more valuable. I believe it'll be fine, though, even if players don't have grain producing plots. We now have the LP for that.

Anyway, the future is bright!
