All the mirrors in the house shattered at the same time.
The loud crash went from sharp to terrifying. It wasn't just one mirror; it was a perfectly synchronized crash of every mirror in the house.
Amalia was reclining in her armchair, enjoying her rich morning coffee and watching the weather forecast on television. She quickly placed her cup on the ornate living room table and felt a chill run through her, freezing her deepest thoughts. She couldn't find a plausible cause for such a terrible event.
When she approached the bedroom, she saw her mirror reduced to thousands of fragments on the floor, but something strange was happening: none of them reflected her face, or even any part of her body.

On the wooden floor, a thousand fragments of the hallway mirror reflected the morning light, but not a single fragment reflected her face. It was as if the glass had shattered, but also absorbed all the light and the image. She tried to look at herself in one of the larger pieces. Nothing. Only the wall behind her, distorted and broken.A knot formed in her stomach. "This isn't possible," she whispered.

She went to the bathroom. The mirror above the sink was in a perfect mosaic of breakage, still in its frame, but the mercury seemed to have completely vanished from the inside of the shards. As she approached, she realized something worse. Not only were they not reflecting her, but the frames were empty. There was no wall reflected behind the glass, no shadow. Only absolute blackness, as if each mirror had become a window onto nothingness.
As she backed away, she felt the urge to look over her shoulder, an unmistakable feeling that she was no longer alone. There was something in that house with her now, something that didn't need mirrors to see her, and whose silence was louder than any scream. She realized that the mirrors hadn't been broken by an external force; they had been broken to clear the way.

Thank you for visiting.
