Contest entry for Gaming Photography Weekly Contest - "Your Best Picks" theme

Introduction

I discovered an incredible blockchain-based game called Cryptoshots (@cryptoshots.play) at the beginning of my Hive journey. As someone new to this space, I was amazed by how seamlessly it integrates traditional gaming mechanics with blockchain technology. What makes this game truly special isn't just the gameplay, but the a bit small but vibrant Hive community I've encountered along the way. These screenshots represent my favorite moments from my early journey into this fascinating digital world.

First Steps into Cryptshots world

My adventure began with the daily tournaments. @caspermoeller89 did promote the tounament on inleo.io this is the way I found out about it. After some struggle I found out how the interface works and I joined the fun. I must say it was really hard at first but after some days I got used to it.

This is the interface after you figured out how to use it.

Deep learning curve

One thing I still didn't got use too is to know what settings are turned on or not. At the beginning of each map or if you join you can see all settings on the left. The only problem is that beginner don't think much of it and don't understand everything and think that there are some bugs in the game, but its just weird settings used in the game mode.

Your opponents will be better than you!

I'm not joking when I say that your opponents are better than you! In most cases, you'll lose because they've probably already spent thousands of hours playing this game. Still, it feels good when you do manage to beat these veterans!

Graphics are functional

Since this game runs in a browser and a mobile and PC version is also planned for release in the future, you shouldn't expect something like Battlefield or Counter Strike 2. This game is being developed by a few crypto investors, which I think is really cool. Gabe (@gaottantacinque) is often on Discord asking for feedback and fixing bugs very quickly. I think that's really great.

Fire

One thing that really bothers me are these green flames. I don't understand why they're there. Sometimes I've spawned there and lost lives straight away. I think it's stupid, but I'm sure I'm not the only one this happens to, so I can tolerate it. If it's a bug, then Gabe please fix it!

Community

I have to say that the community is really nice and welcoming, and they are very supportive of me and other players, especially when they are active on Discord! I have nothing bad to say about it :D

Tournaments

Getting back to the tournaments, here's a quick screenshot of today's tournament payouts. I was pretty happy when I saw this because, as a newbie, these tournament rewards really push me forward :)

Why these are my best picks

Because they show fun and joy in the community and create an awareness of how much is possible when a group of people meet every day and do something together. It doesn't matter whether it's only online or in real life.

What a great post and some great, captivating moments!
I'm happy you saw the thread I did about joining the tournament that day and even more so that you joined and have been sticking around.

It's true, the flames are annoying. I think they're meant as obstacles. It is particularly annoying when you spawn in them. Luckily, the shield is up when you spawn, and you can get away before you take damage. Shield is disabled when you use your weapon, or automatically after 5 seconds when you don't use your weapon.

I think a way to get around the game mode obstacle is to add the "rules" of the round to the score board (this shows when you press and hold down the tab key).
Currently you can see it if you press the ESC button (this basically pause the game, but.. you can still die when playing multiplayer).

You have no idea how bad I was at this game when I first started. I haven't played any counter strike or that kind of games. I've played fallout (starting at Fallout 3), S.T.A.L.K.E.R Shadow of Chernobyl and that sort of games, but never any multiplayer mode, so... I was BAD, just ask @zillionz and @obifenom 😂
If it hadn't been for the community, I would have stopped playing right away.
I hate losing! But the atmosphere in among the members is just great.

Shit talking with @silverblue84 when one of us lose a mini-game, taking the piss of @zillionz, making fun of @gaotantacinquefor being founder and still being as poor in the game as I am and seeing @mickvir improving his game over the past few months. Everything there is great, such a vibrant community.
Sometimes we're lucky to have @herman-german join us too. Been a while since I saw him in the pew pew game though.

As for today's prize, that was well deserved! Imagine if you had been hiding when you kept killing me and @zillionz. Your KDR was 9 to 1 at one point.
You would have taken the KDR prize with that 😜
