Introducing the Chain State Dashboard

in HiveDevs6 days ago

Over time, while using Hive, I often felt that many important signals already exist on-chain, but are scattered across different places.
Getting a quick sense of “how the chain is doing right now” isn’t always easy.

So I added a new Chain State dashboard to cutehive.com, and took the opportunity to reorganize how these features are accessed.

What’s new in this update

1. Introducing the Chain State dashboard

Chain State is a consolidated view of Hive’s current condition.
It’s not meant to be a traditional block explorer homepage, but rather a status overview, focusing on a few key questions:

  • Are on-chain prices aligned with the market?
  • Is block production running smoothly?
  • Has the network been stable recently?
  • What does current inflation and issuance look like?
  • Is HBD approaching any risk thresholds?

All of this is presented in a single place for quick checks and overall context.

Small usability touches

  • Data updates live, with the option to pause for closer inspection
  • Market price sources can be switched and compared instantly
  • Clear feedback is shown when an API node is slow or unavailable

2. Dedicated routes for every feature

One important part of this update is that each feature now has its own direct route.

In practice, this means:

  • No more clicking through multiple pages from the homepage
  • You can open a specific module directly via URL
  • Browser back/forward navigation works naturally
  • Pages are easier to bookmark or share with others

Now, if you’re only interested in a specific feature — such as the witness list, proposal list, or the witness block production schedule — you can reach it directly via a single link, without navigating through the homepage every time.

I have a couple of suggestions for making the dashboard a bit more helpful.

For example, in this part, we should mention that this is programatically "planned" inflation. But maybe add how much in reality it is when calculating the real amount of printed HIVE.

A great way to represent this would be to show how much was planned to be issued, which should represent these %'s... vs how much is being issued with all bits accounted for, and then calculate how much those percentages are with different colours or gradients.

Also, there are also two missing parts that are not yet HIVE, but it will be counted already for the inflation calculation due to being in circulation, which is the HBD APR payments. Maybe that would be best moved into the next dashboard...

And the amount of HBD converted to HIVE... (this one has to be calculated linearly up to the programmed 30% cut off max, where speculation enters in place).

In the next one...

Where we can say how much HBD is being printed for the HBD APR, and how much enters the circulation from the payment of proposals.

Adding this will provide a much better reality of what is actually happening. In my view.

These are all excellent suggestions.

This dashboard is still not very mature — we released it a bit hastily, and there are many features that still need to be added.

Thank you very much for your valuable suggestions.

The website https://cutehive.com now supports routing, so you can directly access the following pages via these links:

This is super cool!

Something very cool that you could add is the value of the votes.

I vibe-coded an app that does that, and you can reuse the code if needed. It may not be super optimized, as it is vibe-coded, but it works.

The app is at https://vote.aliento.blog/

I think I should fetch the median price, not the market price. But you can change the price.

Thank you for your reply and suggestions.
I plan to place the “vote value” feature on the user information page. It already has a preliminary version, but it still needs some polishing before it can be released.

Thank you again for your support.

Sounds great!

Super cool,who developed this app?

I did, with the help of AI, I started with Replit and finished it with Warp.

Supercool, easy to use and navigate!

Interesting... I was working on some sort of a pilot about something similar.

By the way is the website down? I can't access it right now. Will try again later. Maybe its being blocked from where I am right now.

Now testing from home @oflyhigh, and looks like working fine. So unsure if work is blocking your domain for some reason.

Also, I have a suggestion, if I may? ish request... are you able to set a "custom RPC endpoint" field on the RPC endpoint part? It's nice for allowing others like me to test other's products against my Hive node, and basically embraces the right way of decentralisation (in my view) where people bringing more nodes don't need to use others if they want.

Sorry for the late reply.

Adding support for custom RPC endpoints has always been part of our plan. It’s just that we’ve had quite a lot on our plate, so this task ended up being a lower priority. Since you’ve brought it up, I’ll move it up the list and add the necessary support as soon as possible.

Thank you very much for your support and feedback.

Yeah, no worries really. We are all doing what we can to make things happen for free. So its quite natural that sometimes things have to move around.

No way I was building something similar 🖥️

Really nice!!

looks great! nice work as usual

Very nice data layout

yo @cutehive.com this Chain State Dashboard looks super useful!🔥
Clean way to track blockchain stats at a glance —love the real-time vibe.
Quick Q:any plans to add alerts for big changes (like sudden stake drops or unusual tx volume)?
Thanks for building this, gonna bookmark it for sure
#leofinance #hive #blockchain

This dashboard has many features that need to be added and improved.
Thank you for your suggestions.

Chain State Dashboard already looks promising — having a clean overview of the chain state in one place is huge for devs and power users.
Appreciate you taking suggestions seriously. Quick ideas if you're open:

  • Real-time block producer stats / missed blocks
  • Resource usage (RC,mana) per account or overall
  • Simple API health / node status

Keep building man, this could become a go-to tool for the Hive ecosystem
Looking forward to the next iteration!

Hive stands out to me in that it seems to take seriously the financial requirements to be self-sustaining. This dashboard also helps to de-mystify the pieces that make it work. Excellent work!
