New East garden, before cleaning out
On Monday morning I was up at 6AM and got the post up. I tried to start laundry and start the bills/budget, but decided that I really needed to take advantage of the cool weather so I headed out to do a flowerbed at 9AM.
I thought I’d get the New East one done as it’s one of the biggest and I had a lot of things to plant in it.
It had been done in early April but the weeds had come back with a vengeance due to the rain. It took me 3 hours to clean it out and deadhead the flowers.

Most things had done well over the winter. The exception was the lungwort. It’s gotten powdery mildew so it will be added to the foliar list on Friday. Even though it was cool out, there was a little too much getting up and down to reach the weeds.

I couldn’t leave the daffodil foliage standing up; I had too much behind it I had to reach. I finished about 12:15PM and got my photos and finished my notes. I didn’t put down more FlowerTone or plant anything, I was too wiped out.
In the middle of the morning the electrician came and sorted out most of the electrical problem in the bathroom. He will have to replace the circuit breaker as it’s been malfunctioning since installation. He also said he’s retiring but will take on simple repair jobs like mine.
I got my tools pulled to in front of the shed and went to get photos and was so tired I forgot they were there. I found them in the evening when I was pulling shades because it was to be mid 40’sF again during the night. I didn’t light the stove as it was to be sunny and 80F on Tuesday.
Tom got the muffler on the truck finally before he left for vacation on Thursday. So now I just need to get it inspected.
On Tuesday I plan to get outside as soon as I wake up and finish this garden, tie up the grapes to their trellis, and then start in the Big garden. My helper friend will be here at 9:30AM.
Hello @goldenoakfarm, It's nice to see your garden again. It looks well-groomed, and the plants are vibrant. Garden maintenance is indeed needed to keep them healthy and flourishing. Sometimes, we just need to spend some time with them each day to attend to their needs, such as weeding, deadheading, and the like. Weeds grow faster after the rain, so we really need to be more vigilant and regularly eliminate them as soon as they sprout.
Happy garden hiving!
Flowers and plants also need to be taken care of a lot, watered on time, then they make our garden beautiful.
A lot of people retire but still do small jobs, retirement wages are so bad
Maintaining a garden isn't that easy but I'm quite impressed with how you are maintaining yours, the plants are blooming so well.
The way you always keep your garden so neat is commendable
