Flowers may not speak, but they can make my heart happy every time I see their colors. They are my hope and my reminder to stay positive.

Yesterday after work, I went to a subdivision and saw some beautiful plants. I really liked them, so I quickly took some pictures. I had to hurry because my workmates were already waiting for me. We were going to celebrate the birthday of our coworker, Jenny. She invited us to her house for a small gathering. When I arrived, everyone was happy and enjoying the food. It was a simple celebration, but it felt very warm and joyful. I was glad I went because it was a nice way to relax and spend time with friends after a long day at work.

I was really amazed by the plants, and I wanted to get some cuttings to plant at home. But I got scared of the security guard. I also thought that there might be CCTV cameras, and they could see me, so I decided not to do it. My coworkers just laughed at me because I kept taking pictures of the flowers. They told me to try asking the kuya guard next time if the flowers are for sale so that when we come back, I can buy some.

I really liked the place because there were so many beautiful plants. I just didn’t have enough time to take more pictures. I was thinking that we rarely get the chance to go out because we’re always busy with work. It’s a good thing the weather was nice that day. Even though I didn’t have much time, at least I still got some pictures for my collection. Ate Grace told me that she often passes by that place but she never thought of taking pictures. She said it looks even more beautiful when they put up the Christmas lights, just like last year.

One of our coworkers, Gloria, shared that she’s not really interested in plants. She said she feels lazy to plant, but she still appreciates flowers when she sees them. She just doesn’t like planting. I told her that it’s normal some people don’t have that kind of interest. But for me, ever since I was a child, I got used to it because of my mother. She loved collecting plants especially anthuriums, which were her favorite before. The area around our house was full of flowers so maybe that’s why I inherited my love for plants from her.

For me, I really like to relax when there are many plants around me. It feels so nice to sit down, eat and drink coffee under a tree. That’s really what I love to do. While checking my plants, I also talk to them. It feels so good, and sometimes I even forget my problems when I’m surrounded by colorful plants. My sibling always tells me that I should have a big space so I can arrange all my plants nicely and make them look even more beautiful.

For me, plants are not just decorations, they are part of my life. When I take care of them, I feel peace in my heart. They help me forget my problems and remind me that growth takes time. I’m thankful that I learned to love plants because of my mother. I believe that being surrounded by nature is one of the best ways to stay happy and thankful in life.
