Codex Nocturna: The Stone Gargoyle

Hello friends and community members,

Showing you my interpretation of the character prompt: ancient stone gargoyle. This is how I made my version. Some of the design details I need to put in there are the slate green color the lichen growing or anything patina looking on the eyes or mouth the pair of wings the plinth and so on. It was a good prompt to keep me imagining and creating

This is my initial draft of the gargoyle. I am keeping that carved wood or stone with little intricate detailing just like how I did it on my previous charactober entries. I am using a different color palette today

image.png
The previous draft is looking a bit simple and less defined. I worked on adding some more detailed lines around the chest and shoulder and horns and wings. I had to stop before everything looks chaotic

For the base colors I am limiting it to greys and lichen green and a little brownish tint to give it that stone gargoyle texture. Instead of the dripping green I tried making that into a slowly spreading and growing moss on stone. For a final touch I made the eyes glow with red iris.
It is looking like a guard with arms and wings spread out that will perfectly fit the stone arch I made on the final look.
