The Bare Branches

I made a quick doodle for the prompt bare branches from the doodle downtown afterglow. This made me think of that quiet, and stillness brought by the season. I wanted to capture a scene that felt peaceful, like a moment frozen in time.

I used these winding, spindly shapes for the trees to really lean into that skeletal look, letting them frame the path as it disappears into the horizon. I love how the dark brown contrasts against the stark white of the snow and that bright pop of blue in the sky. Adding the green bench in the foreground was a little last minute decision to give the viewer a place to sit and just take it all in. It fits right into my love for flat, simple shapes and bold color blocking that keep the story clear and uncluttered.

It was a fun exercise in simplicity, finding beauty in what's left behind when the leaves are gone
