Yo all, it's been a long time since my last contribution in ASEAN Hive community. I wanted to take this very opportunity to thank the community, and ofcourse not forgetting the founder @justinparke and his family in supporting the community day in and day out.
The world is changing so fast or should I say, people at the age of 40s felt time passes faster than when they're younger don't you think? I used to be larger than life, thinking of I can get away with anything and everything. Many risks I used to take when I was younger, it's now a huge decision.
I used to do running, but then I spoilt my knees. Fortunately, I can still walk, as long as I do not impact my ankles too much, I could still be very normal. So I get on with upper body development. I did pull ups and I have good results. Within a year, I brought my numbers from 1 jumping pull up, to 8 sets of 5 straight pull ups, until... ...
Well, it was lame excuse, but it did happened. I didn't think I could injures myself by doing pull ups on a wet bar. The rain came, I was still doing my pull ups in the rain with my wet shirts on, damn it that feels so good when others admiring this fat ass can still do pull ups in the rain. Until the rain lubes up enough between my skin and the bar.
It wasn't all that serious. I didn't fall, but I can already feel the burning sensation over my lads, shoulders, and traps over my left upper body. Over the next few days, it continued to increase pain as if my body is yelling at me to quit. And for the record, I'm not that kind of person who willing to take a break for pain.
Apparently, no pain no gain doesn't apply to muscle injury. It's not usual muscle pain anymore, as the sharp pain doesn't really feels like normal workout burning sensation anymore. So painful I can't even turn back arms back to wipe my butt.
2 months down the road, I couldn't even do 1 rep of pull up without screaming in pain. So painful even that 1 rep I will have to skip the eccentric movement half way down. Guess what next, physio therapy. 🤣 Never in my life, would I thought I need this expensive treatment! Never! Now that I'm doing small stretching and healing exercises, slowly gaining back my mobility so I can wipe my butt again 🤣
This is not a complain post, but a short blog to record an incident, and to remind myself. Seriously dude, at this age I've got everything to lose. At this point of time, I'm talking about trying to gain my my left arms mobility, I can't even imagine what if I really break something. Now if you're around my age and thinking of competitive workout, I think you should reassess your current condition, perhaps really pour down some money to hire professionals to help us design a workout package, rather than going the cheap way like me and let ego catches me.
✌️ Peace
Thanks for sharing your experience, @davidke20 🙌 It takes courage to admit when you've pushed too hard 🙌 Your story is a great reminder for all of us, especially as we get older, that listening to our bodies and investing in proper guidance is super important ✨
Sigh... It's my fault that I have always been a little pushie. I knew my age is not young anymore, I wish I am still competitive and push it a little too hard I guess.
Yes, sometimes we are limited to the thought that we spend on something we can actually do on our own. But we forget we are not experts and if luck is not on our side, we spend even more on treatments because our DIYs didn't work or may have failed. Hope you get better soon!
Thank you dear. I should have put more attention to my body reactions than the exercise itself.
Hope you recover fast from your injury. I agree with you, it's better and safer to invest in a professional fitness coach. I want one for myself, but my financial status doesn't allow me yet. But soon... Anyway, may you have a relaxing weekend with your family.
Absolutely not cheap. But having injured myself and now resort into physio therapy, it's not any cheaper than hiring a fitness coach 😕
It's changing a little bit but don't quit. Just do it in moderation to avoid muscle cramps or strains😁 I'm still 24 but I felt what you feel. Back pain everywhere☺
24 is another story. I felt like superman when I was 24, and I hardly workout at that age. It's different now after more than 20 years 🤣 I could sprain my neck by just trying to check my shoulder when driving.
Sending healing vibes your way, and thank you again for reminding us that longevity in fitness is all about listening to our bodies and being kind to them.
You're absolutely right. Too bad for me, I only heard my body scream after the injuries. Road to the recovery is painful, and costly.
It’s always after the damage is done that our body finally gets our attention. But showing up for the healing process already puts you ahead. Oh yeah, no one warned us about how expensive healing could be!
You have to take care man. Health is wealth o.o medical bills are probably the most scary ones when we get old TT
I always tell others 40s is not old. Now I guess I will have to take half of that back. I'm probably one of the youngest dude in the physio therapy clinic 😕
o.o ya it's not old. for me 60+ is like old o.o. that sucks. you gotta hopefully get better and not have to go to physio anymore.
take care man. many car park photos where the cars dont park in the box :p
现在流行在一些丢弃的空置的购物中心停车场办二手车行。这就是其中一个。
