Last Thursday, I was invited as part of the cultural activities to end the first Ornithology gathering held in the city of Cumaná. Not sure if it is actually the first, but it is more on the track of being the first in a lot of time.
This activity gathered lots of biologists and bird enthusiasts from the northeastern region of Venezuela. During the event, there were many conferences about the biodiversity of the region plus the new sightings and species discovered in the country.
Whenever Biologists get together, there's always a lot to learn. I stumbled upon a table that had many of the tools used to identify birds and watch them from afar. Plus, there's plenty of bibliography on the birds of Venezuela. It is interesting that some of the books displayed have been translated to English. It is also amazing to know that many people from other countries came to Venezuela to study birds or for bird-watching tourism. It isn't the case anymore but it is part of the history of science in the country.
There was also a small display of art related to birds. It was a beautiful activity.
The ending of it was in charge of yours truly. I had to read some poems that had birds as the subject and I also played some music to give the visitors another piexe of culture they can get back to their homes.
