Malaysia, the out of the cities version

Feels like a ton of time since I've posted, hence a perfect mood for a #monomad entry. And given that my last post here was about Hivefest's next location, showcasing a little more of the country seems a good idea.

You see, at least for someone like me, the best of the country is outside the cities! And although asian cities have their charm, a misty tropical forest definitely is up on my preference list.

Malaysia has no shortage of natural parks. These photos were taken in an amazing one on the northern part, called Taman Negara. I remembered I commuted by bus and boat to get there, taking advantage of one of the many organized trips that sold 2 or 3 days packages there: I wasn't interested on the package deals, but they were great and provided the transport alone.

Word of caution, though, especially if you travel alone: if you're going on a long hike in the jungle, get one of the guides. They likely provide a ton of information you would probably be unaware of; and jungles can be dangerous places, especially if you don't take care...

Still, I would recommend immersing yourself in Malaysian jungles 100%!

The more I write about it and bring these memories back, the more I want to start searching airplane tickets! It's still not out of the year plans!

For the one not enjoying jungle and wildlife that much, worry not! There's plenty of stuff to do and see that won't envolve a possible encounter with a tiger. Tea tasting in Cameron Highlands, for instance!

In a region with a cooler climate than most of the country, countless tea fields stretch along the hills. The tea is really good, and there are tons of affordable and pocket size packs to bring home. And if even this is not your cup of tea (see what I did there? ;)... well, then the next option is easy, right?

Beach time! So many islands and pristine beaches to choose from, with warm and clear water. The only hard decision... is which ones to visit first!
