I have just finished reading this book, which I had been wanting to read for a long time.

I mostly read in French, although I have also read in English, Dutch and Latin.

Je viens de terminer la lecture de ce livre qui me tentait depuis longtemps.

Je lis la plupart du temps en français, même si j'ai déjà lu en anglais, en néerlandais et en latin.

Russia, today — a country plagued by corruption.
A government riddled with mafia organizations. One of them has a plan: to restore the throne of the tsars, and to place Stefan Baklanov upon it.

Synopsis :

As you can see from the summary above, the story takes place in the present day, in a Russia as we think we know it.

It is said that some are considering putting a tsar back on the throne, but to do so, they are searching for the closest relatives of Nicholas II, among whom they would test DNA matches.

The imperial family, including Nicholas II and his wife Tsarina Alexandra, was executed in Yekaterinburg, in the Ipatiev House, on 17 July 1918, as everyone knows.

Miles Lord, a young American lawyer who speaks Russian, is in Russia with his boss Taylor Hayes to help put the pretender to the throne Stefan Baklanov in the position he covets, not without a few win-win arrangements with the police, the mafia, the church, etc.

My opinion and useful information /Mon avis et petites infos :

Steve Berry is a writer I really like. He writes against a historical backdrop and notes at the end of the book what is true and what is fictional.
This book is no exception; I loved it.

Steve Berry est un écrivain que j'apprécie beaucoup. Il écrit sur fond historique et note en fin d'ouvrage, ce qui est vrai et ce qui est fictif.
Ce livre ne fait pas exception, je l'ai adoré.

The Romanov family still holds many mysteries, but I feel like I know them a little better thanks to this book. Their end at the Ipatiev House, for example, is recounted several times by different people, giving us multiple perspectives on the same event.

La famille Romanov réserve encore de nombreux mystères, mais j'ai l'impression que je la connais un peu mieux grâce à ce livre. Leur fin à la maison Ipatiev, par exemple, est racontée plusieurs fois, par des personnes différentes, ce qui nous permet d'avoir plusieurs angles de vue sur le même événement.

I don't have any more books by this author in stock at the moment, but I still have plenty to choose from... no stress 😇.

My next read will be by a Belgian writer.
