Holi, estoy por aquí otra vez. No tan alegre, pero bueno. Les cuento que estas últimas semanas he estado bastante enferma. Todo empezó con unos ganglios pequeños detrás de las orejas. Realmente no le presto mucha atención cuando me siento mal porque casi nunca me enfermo.
Hey, I'm here again. Not as cheerful, but oh well. I wanted to share that these past few weeks, I've been quite sick. It all started with small swollen lymph nodes behind my ears. I don’t usually pay much attention when I feel unwell because I hardly ever get sick.
Pero esta vez sí fue algo que no pude ignorar. Me han estado haciendo muchos estudios (demasiados estudios). Mis pobres brazos están llenos de pinchazos de agujas. En los primeros exámenes, indicaban que tengo una anemia leve y un proceso viral, así que me mandaron a hacer más estudios. Justo hoy fui al laboratorio DYM para otros chequeos y exámenes de virus, para descartar, y afortunadamente salieron negativos. Los exámenes que me hicieron fueron de Epstein-Barr virus, citomegalovirus y dengue.
But this time, it was something I couldn’t ignore. They’ve been running a lot of tests on me (too many tests). My poor arms are full of needle marks. The first tests indicated that I have mild anemia and a viral process, so they ordered more studies. Today, I went to the DYM laboratory for additional checkups and virus tests to rule things out, and fortunately, they came back negative. The tests they ran were for Epstein-Barr virus, cytomegalovirus, and dengue.
Algo muy curioso es que cuando estaba en la universidad, tuve que hacer una exposición sobre el Epstein-Barr, que causa una enfermedad llamada mononucleosis infecciosa, también conocida como "enfermedad del beso". Según yo, tenía eso. En realidad, más del 90% de la población ha sido infectada en algún momento de sus vidas, ya que es altamente contagioso, solo que algunos simplemente no presentan síntomas. Pero al final fue algo diferente. No me sé el nombre, pero estaré bien (creo).
A curious thing is that when I was in university, I had to give a presentation on Epstein-Barr, which causes a disease called infectious mononucleosis, also known as the "kissing disease." I thought that’s what I had. In reality, more than 90% of the population has been infected at some point in their lives since it’s highly contagious—some just never show symptoms. But in the end, it turned out to be something different. I don’t know the name, but I’ll be fine (I think).
