Más que la compra de unas pizzas... 🪙🍕

El 22 de mayo celebramos el Bitcoin Pizza Day y es una oportunidad maravillosa de reencontrarnos con personas entusiastas del mundo tech y las criptomonedas. Por varios años consecutivos he escuchado actualizaciones, lanzamientos y hasta en la radio local he podido compartir algunas propuestas en las que los Hivers a nivel global estaban tomando acciones.

On May 22nd we celebrate Bitcoin Pizza Day and it is a wonderful opportunity to meet again with people enthusiastic about the tech world and cryptocurrencies. For several years in a row I have heard updates, pitches and even on local radio I have been able to share some of the proposals that Hivers globally were taking action on.

Este 2025, por razones laborales, no pude asistir a ninguno de los eventos organizados por Pizza Dao. Puedo decir que sí llegué a sentirme un poco mal por ello y confieso que lloré un poco, pero creo que era por el cansancio y la imposibilidad de no poder asistir, pero esto hizo replantearme algunas cosas: primero, el motivo de la congregación; segundo, temas relacionados con nuestro polémico indicador KE; y tercero, la posición de cara al futuro.

This 2025, for work reasons, I could not attend any of the events organized by Pizza Dao. I can say that I did feel a little bad about it and I confess that I cried a little, but I think it was because of tiredness and the impossibility of not being able to attend, but this made me rethink some things: first, the reason for the congregation; second, issues related to our controversial KE indicator; and third, the position for the future.

La crisis financiera del 2008 dio alternativas para crear algo diferente y no fue hasta el 21 de mayo del 2010 cuando Laszlo Hanyecz, uno de los primeros mineros de Bitcoin, ofrecía 10,000 Bitcoin para comprar 2 pizzas en el Estado de Florida, Estados Unidos, y no fue hasta el 22 de mayo cuando se realiza la transacción por dos pizzas de Papa John's. Bueno, esa historia todos la conocemos, pero esto es un precedente para marcar algo de la funcionalidad.

Y me llegan ideas acerca del KE y más atrás, cuando tuve la oportunidad de hablar con alguien hace unos cuantos años, que me preguntaba qué haría yo si el Hive sube de precio. Mi respuesta real y directa fue moverme, ir de viaje (quizá puede que parezca estúpida mi respuesta para muchos cuya vida transcurre en la terminal de un aeropuerto). Lo lógico, o quizá esperaban que respondiera, sería invertirlo; pues aunque creo fielmente esto como un proyecto a largo plazo, sí invertiría sin dudarlo, pero la universalidad que te permite moverte y observar con ojo crítico otras realidades no solo expande, sino ayuda a crearnos mejores interrogantes; cuestionamientos más humanos, como el significado del dinero, el para qué lo quiero o qué facilidades me da al obtener este valor de la manera que lo realizo.

Esto lo resumo en funcionalidad: hackear el sistema de hacerlo diferente a la realidad que te toca vivir. Tanto usar billeteras, monedas, aplicaciones y hasta esto que hoy esté escribiendo sobre mi manera de ver el mundo tecnológico, he visto madres salir adelante con sus hijos, personas con oportunidades para estudiar, ser útiles al mundo de allá afuera, estudiantes de último año universitario que sin esta oportunidad posiblemente hayan decretado, personas ganar seguridad y aprender lo suficiente como para hablar abiertamente de nuestro presente como herramientas tecnológicas. Entonces, para mí, en este momento, más allá del sacrilegio que se ha vuelto el polémico KE, nos muestra que Hive está siendo funcional, tal vez no como lo soñamos, pero la realidad siempre es mejor; está en uso, activo, funcional y más vigente.
Decidimos hacerlo diferente y no podemos seguir con los pensamientos de modelos económicos que ya no son sustentables.

This is functionality: hacking the system to make it different from the reality you live in. So much using wallets, coins, applications and even the fact that today I am writing about my way of seeing the technological world, I have seen mothers getting ahead with their children, people with opportunities to study, to be useful to the world out there, college seniors who without this opportunity would have possibly decreed, people gaining security and learning enough to talk openly about our present as technological tools. So, for me, at this moment, beyond the sacrilege that the controversial KE has become, it shows us that Hive is being functional, maybe not as we dreamed it, but the reality is always better; it is in use, active, functional and more current. We decided to make it different and we cannot continue with the thoughts of economic models that are no longer sustainable.

Entonces, el 22 de mayo no solo celebramos una compra de una pizza hace 15 años, celebramos un acto de rebeldía, la opción de elegir, de proponer, la libertad de crear patrimonio para hackear las limitaciones que sin estas herramientas tecnológicas no tuviéramos. No conformarse con no tener agua, comida, deserción educativa; la Blockchain está modelando no solo el mundo financiero, sino el pensamiento crítico, el avance y las oportunidades de crear un futuro sustentable hasta para los lugares más remotos del planeta. Asumiendo la confianza y la camaradería digital;juntos innovando y moldeando lo que seremos dentro de 20 años, tal vez.

So, on May 22nd we not only celebrated a purchase of a pizza 15 years ago, we celebrated an act of rebellion, the option to choose, to propose, the freedom to create wealth to hack the limitations that without these technological tools we would not have. Not settling for not having water, food, educational dropouts; the Blockchain is shaping not only the financial world, but critical thinking, advancement and opportunities to create a sustainable future for even the most remote places on the planet. Embracing trust and digital camaraderie; together innovating and shaping who we will be 20 years from now, perhaps...
